How many days does it take to fill a tooth

Since everyone's physical condition is different, oral health problems are also different. Some people are likely to have tooth decay after oral problems. Tooth decay is very unsightly, and when tooth decay occurs, patients will also feel pain, so they need to repair the damaged teeth. So how many days does it usually take to fill a tooth?

Dental fillings can be divided into several situations. If it is simple medium caries or shallow caries, it can be filled in one go. The filling time is usually 20-30 minutes. If it is deep caries, a filling is required, which takes about 30-40 minutes. If soothing treatment is required, it will take about 25 minutes. If indirect pulp capping is required, it will take about 30 minutes. If it is pulpitis or apical periodontitis, root canal treatment can be performed. The time difference between front teeth and back teeth is also relatively large, and follow-up visits are required more than 1-2 times. The total treatment time for anterior teeth is approximately 50-70 minutes. The treatment time for premolars is 60-80 minutes. Molars usually have 3 or more root canals. Root canal treatment is the most time-consuming, taking about 80-120 minutes.

The duration of pain after filling depends on the filling situation, as follows:

1. Filling of decayed teeth: If the dental pulp is not damaged, but the cavity is deep, slight pain may occur when exposed to cold or heat, which usually lasts for a few days and then subsides. If the pain is particularly severe, spontaneous, or worse at night, you should seek medical attention immediately and receive endodontic treatment;

2. Filling a tooth after root canal treatment: Pain is generally a reaction to the root filling, which will be relieved and disappear in about a week.

If the tooth is just decayed and the dental nerve is not damaged, it only needs one filling, which takes about 30 minutes for one tooth. This is the best situation. If the tooth is already painful, root canal treatment is required, which takes about 4 times and a month.
