The accuracy of anal diagnosis of prostate cancer

Since the prostate is relatively superficial, cancer often occurs in the posterior lobe, and the cancerous part is mostly hard, most of the early cases can be found through rectal examination. Statistics have confirmed that many prostate cancers can be touched through rectal examination. Experts point out that rectal examination has a high detection rate and is simple and non-invasive. For men over 50 years old, the importance of regular rectal examination must be emphasized during physical examination. For elderly male patients with urinary obstruction, rectal examination must be listed as a routine screening and diagnostic method.
For patients suspected of prostate cancer by rectal examination or other methods, puncture biopsy is the most important method to confirm the diagnosis of cancer. Transrectal puncture biopsy is simple to operate, does not require special equipment, is reliable in diagnosis, can be repeated, has a high positive rate, and has no serious complications. If the puncture biopsy is negative, but the presence of cancer is still suspected after rectal examination or transrectal ultrasound, CT, etc., a serum prostate-specific antigen test can be performed. This test has both high sensitivity and high specificity for prostate cancer.
