How do breast cancer patients exercise?

The quality of life of patients with breast cancer is still very high after surgery, but we should also provide treatment and care based on the patient's specific situation, which will help further improve the quality of life of breast cancer patients after surgery. We all know that breast cancer patients often experience limb edema after surgery, which requires us to do relevant exercises.

1. Edema of the affected upper limb:

It is a common complication. The affected upper limb should be raised preventively after surgery. If edema occurs, in addition to continuing to raise the affected limb, an elastic bandage should be used, the affected limb should be massaged, and appropriate functional exercises should be performed. However, overwork should be avoided, and blood pressure or intravenous injections should not be given on the affected limb.

2. Functional exercise of the affected upper limb:

① 12 days after surgery, make a fist and flex your wrist with the affected hand, 23 times a day, 30-50 times each time;

② Move the elbow joint 3 days after surgery, but avoid abduction;

③57 days after surgery, the hand on the affected side can touch the ear near the opposite shoulder;

④ After 7-10 days in bed, the patient can be instructed to do finger wall climbing exercises.

⑤ 14 days after the operation, the patient can raise the fingers on the affected side above the head and comb his hair by himself.

3. Psychological care:

After the operation, the patient and his family should continue to be given psychological support and encouraged to be honest with each other.

Our experts have given the above suggestions on how to exercise for breast cancer. Because breast cancer is a hereditary disease, patients with a family history of this disease must take preventive measures against the disease. Furthermore, we should also provide breast cancer patients with medication guidance and psychological care after surgery to improve their confidence in life.
