Is nasopharyngeal cancer contagious to others?

In real life, there are various diseases that constantly endanger our lives. Nasopharyngeal cancer is a serious nasopharyngeal disease. If the disease is not discovered in the early stage, it will be difficult to treat. At the same time, some people are worried that the disease will be contagious. Now I will introduce to you whether nasopharyngeal cancer is contagious!

Nasopharyngeal cancer itself is not a source of infection and is not contagious. However, according to research, most patients with nasopharyngeal cancer carry a virus called Epstein-Barr virus, commonly known as the "kissing virus", which is an important killer that causes nasopharyngeal cancer.

People with poor immunity will have symptoms for a longer time. This virus is more common in young people around 20 years old. Do not kiss strangers to reduce the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma will not cause infection like other pathogens. Just because the presence of EB virus will aggravate the induction of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, it cannot fundamentally prove that nasopharyngeal carcinoma is infectious.

The EB virus is transmitted through saliva exchange, with kissing being the most common method of transmission. Other transmission routes include sneezing, coughing, sharing of tableware and blood transfusion. Infected people will experience headaches, fever, liver enlargement, dehydration and diarrhea, and symptoms usually last for 2 to 4 weeks.

Nasopharyngeal cancer is a highly prevalent cancer. Many people only discover the disease in the middle or late stages, resulting in poor treatment effects and inability to control the disease, which leads to loss of life. Therefore, patients must actively seek treatment. At the same time, the disease is not contagious, so family and friends do not need to worry.
