2.1 General treatment

The drug treatment of localized anal pruritus should be based on local external treatment: antihistamines such as diphenhydramine, chlorpheniramine, and astemizole can be used for treatment. Hormone therapy is available for women and elderly patients with severe illness. For patients with concurrent bacterial infection during antibiotic treatment, antibiotics can be selected according to the condition.

2.2 Surgical treatment

Itch skin injection: also known as perianal tattooing. After long-acting anesthetics (methylene blue preparations) are injected subcutaneously and intradermally around the anus, the superficial sensory nerve endings of the skin are destroyed, and a reversible necrosis and repair process occurs in the skin nerve endings, achieving the purpose of relieving itching. Suitable for primary anal pruritus. Injection is not recommended if there is local inflammation.

2.3 Injection therapy

There are generally three injection methods for treatment. The drug is mainly injected under the skin or into the skin. Let the medicine directly destroy the sensory nerves around the anus, causing local sensation to decrease and symptoms to disappear. After drug injection, it can not only damage peripheral sensory nerves, but also damage motor nerves to varying degrees.
