What are the diagnostic criteria for colon cancer?

Colon cancer is a malignant tumor that causes unpredictable damage to the patient's physical and mental health. Therefore, for patients who unfortunately suffer from rectal cancer, timely detection and early treatment should be carried out to minimize the adverse effects of rectal cancer on the body. Choosing an effective diagnostic method is essential for recovery from the disease. The following is an introduction to the diagnostic criteria for colon cancer.

1. Digital colon examination: This examination method is a necessary step in the examination of rectal cancer. 70% to 79% of patients with colon cancer can be diagnosed with rectal cancer through this examination method. If you do have rectal cancer, you can feel a bumpy and hard mass during rectal examination. In late-stage patients, the intestinal cavity is narrowed and the finger gloves contain dirty pus and blood with feces.
2. Pathological examination: Pathological examination is the most important basis for diagnosis. Surgery for this disease often involves diversion, which will have some changes in the patient's quality of life. In order to avoid misdiagnosis and mistreatment, the treatment should be guided by the results of pathological examination before or during surgery.
3. Carcinoembryonic antigen determination: Carcinoembryonic antigen is of great value in the treatment and evaluation of colon cancer. Continuous determination of serum CEA can be used to observe the effect of treatment. A significant decrease in CEA indicates a good treatment effect. If the treatment is ineffective, the serum remains at a high level. Repeated abnormal increases in CEA after surgery indicate that colon cancer may recur.
4. Ultrasound examination: If a possible case of colon cancer is found, a further rectal ultrasound examination should be performed. It can show the infiltration range and depth of colon cancer, and is helpful for diagnosing lymph node metastasis, so as to prevent missed diagnosis of liver metastasis of colon cancer.
