So, what are the indications for immunotherapy? 1. Adjuvant therapy after surgery for locally advanced renal cancer There is still controversy about whether to use adjuvant therapy after surgery for locally advanced renal cancer. For those who have not completely removed the local lesions or are suspected of having residual lesions, adjuvant therapy should be given, and adjuvant local radiotherapy or (and) adjuvant immunotherapy can be used. Immunotherapy is generally not recommended as a way to prevent tumor recurrence after radical surgery for localized renal cancer. A large number of studies have shown that adjuvant immunotherapy after radical resection of localized renal cancer is similar to that of simple surgery in disease-free survival and overall survival, and patients in the adjuvant therapy group have experienced corresponding toxic and side effects and expensive medical expenses. Therefore, the AUA guidelines, NCCN guidelines, and CUA renal cancer guidelines do not recommend adjuvant immunotherapy after surgery for localized renal cancer.

2. Metastatic renal cancer For metastatic renal cancer, most people currently advocate the removal of the primary lesion, and surgical removal of a single metastatic lesion as much as possible. Immunotherapy can be used for metastatic lesions that cannot be removed.
