Case of liver cancer treated with traditional Chinese medicine

Liver cancer belongs to the category of accumulation, mass, jaundice, swelling, and flank pain in traditional Chinese medicine. It has the characteristics of insidious onset, long incubation period, high malignancy, rapid progression, strong invasiveness, easy metastasis, and poor prognosis.

【Case】

The patient, male, 69 years old, was found to have abnormal biochemical indexes (CEA56.6ug/L) in November 2002. In December of the same year, ECT showed malignant lesions in the liver. The clinical diagnosis was liver metastasis. He was hospitalized for treatment and had been intermittently undergoing multiple interventional chemotherapy, Noli Knife treatment, oral chemotherapy drugs and other corresponding symptomatic treatments. In October 2005, ECT examination showed multiple malignant lesions in the liver and lungs. Biochemical examination showed abnormal liver function and abnormal tumor markers (AFP23.42ug/L, CEA791.88ug/L, CA199220.30U/mL). The patient had no obvious discomfort. When he came to the clinic, he was mentally depressed, his complexion was gray, his voice was low, his body was thin, his tongue was cracked and his fur was thin, and his pulse was soft. The syndrome was a syndrome of vitiligo and accumulation of qi, and the deficiency of the body and the excess of evil were treated with the self-prepared Shenqi Lingshe Decoction plus flavor, and coix seed was boiled alone and taken on an empty stomach for breakfast.

Drug composition: 6g raw sun-dried ginseng, 30g astragalus, 30g poria, 20g wolfberry, 10g roasted malt, 10g roasted hawthorn, 10g dried toad skin, 20g Gynostemma pentaphyllum, 15g Ligustrum lucidum, 30g cat ginseng, 10g roasted Shenqu, 30g Poria, 30g Hedyotis diffusa, 60g Coix seed (wrapped and decocted), 7 doses, decocted in water, 1 dose per day.

Follow-up visit: After taking 7 doses of the medicine, the patient's spirit and tongue fissures improved, and his tongue coating was thin and his pulse was moist. If the effect was not improved, the original prescription was slightly increased or decreased. Since then, he has been taking the medicine without interruption and his condition has been stable.

[Comment] Although the patient in this case had no obvious subjective symptoms, examination revealed liver metastatic cancer and multiple malignant lesions in the liver and lungs. He was treated with interventional therapy, Nolido, and oral chemotherapy drugs. He also suffered from diabetes. When he came to the clinic, he was listless, his complexion was sullen, his voice was low, his body was thin, his tongue was cracked with thin coating, his pulse was weak, and he had deep accumulation of heat and toxicity, and obvious damage to both Qi and Yin. This was a case of accumulated disease with deficiency of the body's health and excess of evil. I used the self-prescribed Shenqi Lingshe Decoction with added ingredients to strengthen the body's health and eliminate the evil. The prescription matched the symptoms and the therapeutic effect was satisfactory.
