Signs of lung cancer

The main signs of lung cancer are:

1. Localized wheezing: It usually occurs during the inhalation phase and does not disappear after coughing.

2. Hoarseness: occurs when lymph node metastasis compresses or invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve.

3. Superior vena cava syndrome: The tumor compresses or invades the superior vena cava, venous return is blocked, resulting in edema of the head, face, neck, and upper limbs, varicose veins and edema in the upper chest, accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

4. Homer's syndrome: When the apex cancer compresses or invades the cervical sympathetic ganglion, symptoms such as sunken eyeball, ptosis, narrowing of the palpebral fissure, increased skin temperature in the upper chest on the affected side, and anorexia may occur, which is called Homer's syndrome.

5. Shoulder and arm pain: When apical cancer compresses or invades the brachial plexus, radiating burning pain will occur in the shoulder and upper limb on that side.

6. Thoracic nerve paralysis: When the thoracic nerve is invaded, shortness of breath and chest tightness will occur, and X-rays will show paradoxical movements of visceral muscles.

7. Difficulty in swallowing: It is caused by enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes compressing the esophagus. Compression of the trachea can cause difficulty in breathing or even suffocation and death.

8. Pericardium invasion: When the pericardium is invaded, clinical manifestations such as pericardial effusion, shortness of breath, arrhythmia, and heart failure will appear.
