What are the symptoms of ovarian cancer

Since ovarian malignant tumors grow rapidly, clinical attention should be paid to the mid-stage symptoms of ovarian cancer to provide a clinical basis for timely and effective treatment and control of the disease progression. The mid-stage symptoms of ovarian cancer are between the early symptoms and the late symptoms and are progressive.

1. Patients occasionally experience lower abdominal discomfort or a feeling of heaviness and pain in one side of the lower abdomen.

2. Abdominal distension, ascites and abdominal mass: Due to the rapid growth of the tumor, the patient may have symptoms of abdominal distension, abdominal mass and ascites in a short period of time. A small tumor can only be found during a pelvic examination. When the mass gradually grows beyond the pelvic cavity, the mass can be felt in the abdomen.

3. Compression symptoms: When the tumor infiltrates into the surrounding tissues or compresses the nerves, it can cause abdominal pain, back pain or sciatica to the patient; if the tumor compresses the pelvic veins, the patient may experience lower limb edema; if the tumor compresses the bladder, the patient may have frequent urination and difficulty urinating; if the tumor compresses the rectum, the patient may have difficulty defecation; if the tumor compresses the gastrointestinal tract, digestive tract symptoms may be seen; compression of the diaphragm can cause difficulty breathing and inability to lie flat.

4. Malnutrition and weight loss: Rapid tumor growth can cause patients to suffer from malnutrition and weight loss.

5. Symptoms of cancer metastasis: If the ovaries are destroyed by cancer tissue, it may cause menstrual disorders and amenorrhea. If lung metastasis occurs, cough, hemoptysis, and pleural effusion may occur. Bone metastasis may cause local pain at the metastatic lesion. Intestinal metastasis may cause blood in the stool, and in severe cases, it may cause intestinal obstruction.
