How to prevent cardiovascular complications after lung cancer surgery

Surgery is the preferred method for treating lung cancer. However, due to old age and frailty, traction and stimulation of the mediastinum and hilum during surgery, hypokalemia, hypoxia and massive bleeding, patients often experience cardiovascular complications such as hypotension, arrhythmia, cardiac tamponade, heart failure, etc. after surgery. Elderly patients in particular often have concurrent cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, so scientific care should be carried out after surgery to prevent the occurrence of complications.

1. Strictly grasp the surgical indications: The surgical indications should be strictly grasped before surgery, especially for elderly patients, patients with heart disease before surgery, and patients with low heart function.

2. Standardize surgical procedures: Strictly abide by surgical operation specifications, and pay special attention to gentle operation.

3. Close observation after surgery: After surgery, the patient's blood pressure, pulse, breathing and other changes should be closely observed, blood volume should be replenished in time, the airway should be kept open and adequate oxygen should be given.

4. Pay attention to the infusion speed: the speed of infusion should be determined according to the patient's cardiopulmonary function. For example, for lung cancer patients with ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cardiopulmonary insufficiency, hypertension, etc., the infusion speed after surgery should be slow and balanced to prevent excessive infusion and induce pulmonary edema.

5. Routine ECG monitoring: After returning to the ward, the patient should be connected to an ECG monitor. Once any abnormality is found, it should be dealt with promptly according to the condition.
