Symptoms of liver cancer metastasizing to bones and brain

Compared with liver cancer metastasis to the lungs, liver cancer metastasis to the bones is relatively rare, and liver cancer metastasis to the brain is even rarer. These two types of liver cancer metastasis have a poor prognosis and are difficult to treat, so they should be taken more seriously. Only by understanding the symptoms after metastasis can early detection be achieved:

1. Bone metastasis of liver cancer

Liver cancer may metastasize to bones throughout the body, but common sites of metastasis are the vertebrae, hips, ilium, ribs, femurs, etc.

The main manifestations of bone metastasis are pain and dysfunction of the corresponding bones. For example, patients with vertebral metastasis may feel pain in the lower back and back. If the vertebral body is examined, the corresponding vertebral body has obvious tenderness. If it continues to develop, the metastatic lesion will further compress or invade the spinal cord, which may cause paraplegia.

2. Brain metastasis of liver cancer

Brain metastasis of liver cancer is relatively rare, but once it metastasizes, the prognosis is very poor and the treatment is difficult. The main manifestations of brain metastasis are headache, nausea and vomiting. Some patients may experience corresponding physical dysfunction caused by damage to the brain substance. For example, brain metastasis compressing the optic nerve can cause diplopia or even blindness; liver cancer invading the cerebellum can cause dizziness; brain cancer compressing the basal ganglia can cause limb movement disorders, such as hemiplegia.
