Sudden hair loss

Sudden hair loss

Everyone's actual situation is different, so hair loss may be caused by many different factors. If you do hair bleaching or dyeing, it will damage the hair and cause hair loss. This phenomenon is mainly caused by external chemical reasons, but some people lose hair due to health problems such as endocrine disorders. Therefore, when you suddenly lose your hair, you need to find out the cause of this phenomenon and then prescribe the right medicine.

Simply put, there is something wrong with the endocrine system. Sudden and excessive hair loss means that there may be some problems with certain tissues and organs in your body.

1. Pituitary gland

Pituitary hormones stimulate the adrenal glands to produce hormones. Hypopituitarism affects the skin indirectly or directly. The synthesis of cortisol, thyroid, androgen, testosterone, etc. depends on the function of the pituitary gland. Diseases such as panhypopituitarism and Simmon's disease, pituitary failure, growth hormone, luteinizing hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and ACTH deficiency, early manifestations of which include decreased body and axillary hair, sparse beards, and complete loss of female pubic hair, etc., are highly correlated.

2. Thyroid

The normal function of the thyroid gland is necessary for hair growth and can act on hair directly or indirectly (through other endocrine glands, especially the gonads). In a normal scalp, 90% to 95% of the hair follicles are in the growth phase, while the remaining (5% to 10%) are in the resting phase (50 to 100 hairs are lost every day). Only a small number of hair follicles are in the transition or regression phase. Changes in different metabolic states, such as pregnancy, malnutrition and other stress responses can change the hair follicle growth cycle. This type of hair loss is also called telogen effluvium. Some thyroid-related diseases, such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, can obviously affect hair growth and cause hair loss.

3. Gonads

In traditional people's ideas, excessive indulgence can lead to hair loss. This association makes sense because hair loss is closely related to sex glands. Sex hormone levels are related to the occurrence of coarse hair on men's beards, trunks and limbs. Women's adrenal glands, ovaries and subcutaneous fat tissue can produce testosterone, which stimulates hair follicles. There was once a famous medical study that concluded that castrated people do not suffer from hair loss (lack of male hormones), which also proved the influence of sex hormones on hair. However, modern medicine has also proved that this effect is not absolutely relevant, but also depends on the sensitivity of hair follicles to androgens. It is generally believed that this is an autosomal dominant genetic trait, so it is also called hereditary hair loss.

Some friends may ask, such professional diagnosis can only be done by doctors, how can you judge if you are not a doctor? I will teach you the simplest method: check your own physical condition. Generally speaking, diseases like pituitary diseases and thyroid diseases are definitely not just hair loss, but are accompanied by many abnormalities in physical health. The two complement each other, and the possibility of being ill is quite high. However, if there is nothing abnormal with your body and you are just experiencing severe hair loss, this type of hair loss has been described above and is an autosomal genetic trait, that is, hereditary hair loss, and there is no need to worry about your health.
