Adverse reactions to chemotherapy for uterine cancer

The toxicity and adverse reactions caused by uterine cancer chemotherapy mainly include gastrointestinal reactions, thrombophlebitis, urinary tract abnormalities, leukopenia, liver damage, cardiovascular damage, respiratory system damage, etc.

Gastrointestinal reactions: Gastrointestinal reactions are the most common systemic reactions to chemotherapy, which may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, oral mucosal ulcers, pharyngitis, etc.

Thrombophlebitis: Thrombophlebitis is mainly caused by leakage of drug solution due to careless operation during intravenous injection of chemotherapy drugs.

Urinary tract abnormalities: Urinary tract abnormalities are mainly manifested as proteinuria, oliguria or anuria. Some patients may have hematuria. Kidney function should be checked regularly during chemotherapy.

Leukopenia: Chemotherapy can inhibit the bone marrow hematopoietic system, which is mainly manifested as a decrease in white blood cells and platelets. If the white blood cell count is lower than (2.5-3)×109/L and the platelet count is lower than (50-80)×109/L, chemotherapy should be temporarily stopped.

Liver damage: Chemotherapy can cause damage to liver cells to varying degrees, which may cause liver pain, jaundice, increased bilirubin, etc. In severe cases, it can also cause cirrhosis.

Cardiovascular damage: Some chemotherapy drugs can cause damage to the cardiovascular system. Cardiotoxic drugs should be avoided to prevent heart failure.

Respiratory system damage: Chemotherapy drugs for uterine cancer can also cause acute chemical pneumonia and chronic pulmonary fibrosis, and even respiratory system reactions such as respiratory failure.
