TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Gallbladder Cancer

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the gallbladder and liver are mutually exterior and interior, and they control the key points of digestion. Gallbladder cancer is often caused by depression turning into fire, burning body fluid into phlegm, and then forming a disease; or long-term internal injury due to the seven emotions, stagnation of liver qi, and improper diet. Traditional Chinese medicine adheres to the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment in the treatment of diseases. According to clinical manifestations, the syndrome of gallbladder cancer can be divided into liver qi stagnation, stasis and toxic accumulation, dampness and heat internal obstruction, etc. The treatment should be to soothe the liver and regulate qi, remove stasis and detoxify, and clear away heat and dampness.

1. Liver Qi Stagnation

Clinical manifestations: distending pain in the ribs, right flank mass, abdominal distension, dry mouth, bitter taste, or nausea

Vomiting, pale red tongue or purple bruises, stringy pulse;

Therapeutic method: Soothe the liver and regulate qi, relieve depression and relieve pain;

Classic prescriptions: Hou Xin Tang, Xiao Yao San Jia Wei Fang, etc.

2. Stasis and toxicity

Clinical manifestations: distending pain, stabbing pain or colic in the right flank, involving the shoulder and back, a mass can be felt in the liver area, which is resistant to pressure, bitter taste in the mouth and loss of appetite, constipation, dark red tongue with petechiae, or tortuous sublingual veins, thin yellow tongue coating, and stringy pulse;

Therapeutic method: Cooling blood, detoxifying, removing blood stasis and dissolving knots;

Classic prescriptions: Gentiana Decoction, Detoxification and Anti-cancer Decoction, etc.

3. Internal resistance to moisture and heat

Clinical manifestations: jaundice of the skin and sclera, dry and bitter mouth, poor appetite, nausea and vomiting, yellow urine, constipation, distension and pain in the right hypochondrium or distension and fullness in the stomach, red tongue, yellow and greasy tongue coating, slippery and rapid pulse;

Therapeutic method: Clear away dampness and heat, promote bile secretion and relieve jaundice;

Classic prescriptions: Dafenqingyin, Dayinchentang, Lidankangcantang, Yinchenlongdantang, etc.
