How to disinfect teether

How to disinfect teether

Because during the teething process of children, various uncomfortable reactions will occur in the teeth area, such as itchy teeth that always make them want to bite other things, and even babies with weaker body resistance will have fever problems when teething. Among them, the invention of teether has brought great convenience to teething babies, because teether can effectively reduce the discomfort caused by babies during the teething process. How should you disinfect your baby's teether after using it?

How to sterilize baby teether

Baby teethers are "good partners" that accompany babies' teething. They can reduce the discomfort of babies during teething, provide convenience for babies to grind their teeth, and can also effectively replace babies' chewing on other things, which is safer and more hygienic. For the baby's health, baby teethers need to be cleaned and disinfected regularly, but how to disinfect baby teethers? This requires reading the instructions of the baby teether. Different baby teethers have different disinfection methods. Some baby teethers will be deformed after being boiled in water, and some baby teethers can be disinfected at high temperature or in a sterilizer.

Therefore, only some baby teethers can be boiled in water at high temperature, scalded with boiling water or steamed. If boiled in water, they should not be boiled for too long, about five minutes is appropriate. However, many baby teethers are not resistant to high temperatures and can only be soaked in warm water or washed with a neutral detergent (food-grade detergent), then washed with warm water and wiped clean with a towel before use.

Freezing the baby teether in the freezer of the refrigerator can also have a disinfecting effect. The teether is cold when you take it out, and babies like to chew it. It is a good method. Another method is to soak the tooth gel in disinfectant for a few minutes, then wash it with warm water and scald it with boiling water, but this method has the smell of disinfectant, so this method is not recommended.

Things to note when using teether

1. Ensure the quality of the toothpaste. Teething gum is an item that babies will directly touch and chew for a long time. Mothers must buy trustworthy brands to ensure the safety of the teething gum material and the health of the baby.

2. Choose a teether suitable for your baby. There are many kinds of baby teethers, including those in various colors and shapes, pacifier-shaped, sound-making, anti-falling, etc. These types of teethers have their own characteristics, but the most important thing is that the baby has to like them. Mothers should pay attention to choosing teethers that can arouse the baby's interest and are suitable for playing.

3. It is recommended that mothers prepare two to three teethers. On the one hand, it can effectively avoid the situation of forgetting to bring it, and on the other hand, it is convenient to replace and can be cleaned and replaced regularly. A baby's interest in a teether or toy is always short-lived, so hiding one and using it as a replacement from time to time can help keep the baby interested.

4. Teeth glue needs to be cleaned regularly. Silicone or rubber teethers generate static electricity and easily absorb dust and bacteria, so they need to be cleaned frequently. Many foreign brands of teethers are not suitable for long-term boiling and sterilization due to their materials. Mothers should be careful when using them to avoid aging of the teethers.

5. Babies in the teething period will cry incessantly because of swollen gums. You can wrap a small piece of ice in clean gauze and apply a cold compress to the baby. The cool feeling can temporarily relieve the discomfort of the gums. You can also use gauze dipped in cool water to wipe your baby's gums, which can also have a certain relief effect.
