Structures that form the inguinal ligament

Everyone's physical condition is different, but everyone's body structure is the same. One of the important parts of the human body is a structure called the inguinal ligament. The structure of the inguinal ligament is relatively important. Because it is an area connecting the genitals and thighs, the genitals may be involved if the disease occurs. What are the structures that form the inguinal ligament?

Groin: A groove located at the junction of the thigh and abdomen. The iliac part is triangular in shape. The upper boundary is from the anterior superior iliac spine to the outer edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, the inner boundary is the outer edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, and the lower boundary is the inguinal ligament, which is used to separate it from the thigh. It is a mark for identifying inguinal hernia and femoral hernia. The structures of each layer in this area are weak and bear high intra-abdominal pressure. The spermatic cord and round ligament of the uterus pass through here. Therefore, it is a high-incidence site for hernia.

Anatomy

The lower edge of the curled and thickened external oblique tendon is located between the anterior superior iliac spine and the pubic tubercle. The fibers above its inner end split into a triangular hole, the subcutaneous ring. The fibers on the upper and inner sides end at the front of the pubic symphysis, called the medial crus; the fibers on the outer and lower sides end at the pubic tubercle, called the lateral crus. The outer and upper parts of the two feet are connected by the interpedicular fibers emitted by the ligament. The fibers that extend inward and upward from the lateral crus pass through the spermatic cord and move to the anterior layer of the rectus sheath, which is called the inversion ligament; the fibers at the inner end of the lateral crus bend backward and outward to form the lacunar ligament (lacuna ligament).

The groin is the triangular area on either side of the lower abdomen. Its medial boundary is the outer edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, its upper boundary is the horizontal line from the anterior superior iliac spine to the outer edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, and its lower boundary is the inguinal ligament. This area is relatively weak, and when the human body stands, the intra-abdominal pressure in the inguinal area is 3 times higher than when lying flat. Due to the anatomical and physiological characteristics, hernias often occur in this area.

Inguinal hernia repair

Inguinal hernia repair is the main method for treating inguinal hernia. This disease is mainly caused by a large abdominal ring and dilated inguinal canal, which causes the contents of the abdominal cavity to slide down the inguinal canal into the scrotum. Therefore, this operation is performed to remove the hernia sac and strengthen the anterior or posterior wall of the inguinal canal to narrow the space and prevent the contents of the abdominal cavity from descending. After the operation, abdominal pressure is prohibited and constipation is prevented, and the effect is good.
