What to do if cervical spondylosis attacks acutely

Everyone's living and working environment is different, and the impact on cervical health will also be very different. For example, people who work at a desk for a long time, are under great pressure, and often bow their heads will easily experience discomfort in the cervical spine. Long-term compression or stimulation of the vertebral artery will increase the burden on the cervical spine. So, what should we do if cervical spondylosis attacks acutely?

1. Rest.

Everyone's condition is different. When cervical spondylosis occurs, whether the initial symptoms are pain in the neck, shoulders, back and upper limbs, dizziness, headache, or even weakness in the limbs, difficulty walking, or a combination of these, rest can relieve local muscle and soft tissue spasms, and nerve root and spinal cord irritation symptoms. My current attack was also related to lack of sleep and rest. Therefore, when cervical spondylosis occurs acutely, rest is the first priority.

2. Eliminate the inducement.

The causes of acute attacks of cervical spondylosis can be roughly divided into two categories:

A. Acute injury. For example, trauma was a factor in my current attack. When I was playing bumper cars, I clearly felt that my cervical vertebrae were dislocated after being hit. Although I straightened it myself later, local soft tissue damage cannot be repaired immediately. Of course, for ordinary people, they cannot treat themselves, but they should also avoid getting hurt again (yesterday my colleague wanted to take me to play bumper cars again, but I used my extremely strong self-control to control my urge to do so and firmly refused??).

B. Chronic strain. Such as looking down at the phone or computer for a long time. Unfortunately, I used to look down at the phone for a long time every day. In fact, if I had taken a good rest after being injured while playing bumper cars and stopped playing with my phone, this acute attack could have been avoided. However, relying on your own professional self-defense skills, you will regret it for the rest of your life!! This also proves from the side that "no zuo no die why you try" is very reasonable!! So friends, when an acute attack occurs, please throw away all the rotten things such as mobile phones and computers!

3. Self-treatment.

Of course, this part is only an emergency measure for those whose symptoms are relatively less serious or for those who are temporarily inconvenient (if the pain is severe and unbearable or your limbs are weak, and you feel like you are walking on cotton, the best thing to do is to see a regular hospital as soon as possible).

A: Self-traction. Lie flat on your back with a pillow behind your neck (speaking of pillows, I have to say a little more. A suitable pillow is crucial. For pillow choices, please refer to the previous article "Sleeping to protect the spine - pillow selection"). Adjust the pillow height so that it is slightly higher than the curvature of the neck. The standard is that when lying flat, the back of the head can touch the bed surface or the depression of the pillow, but the neck has a slight stretching feeling.

B: Hot compress. You can place a hot water bottle (the temperature should not be too high, just a local warmth sensation) behind your neck, but do not use it for too long each time (3 to 5 minutes per time is appropriate, and no more than 10 minutes per time), and leave at least half an hour between two sessions.

C: Self-training. While lying flat, you can slowly rotate your neck left and right and shrug your shoulders. The intensity of the exercise should be such that you do not feel any discomfort.
