Is kerosene harmful to the human body?

Kerosene is kerosene, a distillation product of petroleum. It contains a large amount of harmful ingredients and heavy metal ions, which can cause serious consequences such as poisoning if consumed by humans. Regarding the above situation, if you have drunk kerosene, you should go to a regular public hospital for gastric lavage and catharsis treatment in time. You should pay attention to rest, eat a light diet, eat more vegetables and fruits, and drink plenty of water.

Since diesel basically does not volatilize, it has little effect on people, but you still need to be careful if there are children and elderly people at home. SO2 and SO3 produced by the combustion of sulfides will cause gas phase corrosion to the exhaust system. When it comes into contact with water, it generates sulfurous acid and sulfuric acid, which adhere to the exhaust pipe and other parts and cause severe liquid phase corrosion to metals. Moreover, SO2 and SO3 in the exhaust gas have a bad smell, which affects human health and pollutes the environment. The sulfur content in diesel is not allowed to exceed 0.2%.

Kerosene: After kerosene is gasified, generally low-solubility kerosene has little side effects on the body, but inhalation of high-concentration kerosene vapor can cause acute kerosene poisoning: there is often excitement first, followed by inhibition, manifested as fatigue, headache, feeling drunk, confusion, muscle tremors, ataxia; severe cases may experience disorientation and confusion; vapor can cause eye and respiratory irritation symptoms, and severe cases may develop chemical pneumonia. Inhalation of liquid kerosene can cause aspiration pneumonia, and in severe cases, pulmonary edema may occur.

After kerosene is gasified, the harmful components are mainly polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. In 1915, scientists confirmed that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are carcinogenic to rabbits. PAHs are not direct carcinogens, but they become ultimate carcinogens after being acted upon by enzymes in the body. Cancer occurs when carcinogens combine with DNA or RNA, causing irreparable damage.

Emulsified oil: Due to environmental restrictions, many previously commonly used oil-soluble rust inhibitors have been restricted in use, such as barium sulfonate, which has a good anti-rust effect on ferrous metals. Barium ions are heavy metal ions. Long-term discharge into the environment will cause heavy metal accumulation and cause malicious incidents. Therefore, countries around the world are currently promoting new additives that do not contain barium or even sulfonates.
