How to relieve the irritation of hands caused by chili peppers

Many people like to eat chili peppers, especially people from Sichuan, who cannot live without spicy food. Some people even cannot eat without chili peppers. Some people like to eat the whole pepper directly, which is convenient and comfortable to eat, while some people like to chop the pepper into pieces and mix them together. When you cut peppers, they will be hot. Many people's first thought is to put them in cold water to cool them down, but they will still be hot after taking them out. So let's see if there are any good ways to relieve it:

① Makeup remover or cooking oil

First of all, the burning sensation on your hands after cutting peppers is because peppers contain a substance called capsaicin. Once this substance comes into contact with the skin, it will cause the skin to become hot and red, and will also stimulate the pain nerves to cause discomfort. But capsaicin is insoluble in water, so soaking in ice water or salt water will not help. However, here is a piece of knowledge: capsaicin is fat-soluble! Fat-soluble! So it can be dissolved by using oily substances such as cooking oil, makeup remover, nail polish remover, etc., thereby relieving the burning sensation on your hands.

②Vinegar or lemon juice

Capsaicin is actually also called capsaicin. As the name suggests, it is an alkaline substance. You haven't heard of "fat soluble" but you have always heard of "acid-base neutralization". So as long as you apply acidic substances on your hands, you can neutralize the capsaicin and relieve pain.

So, what is acidic? The most common thing we come into contact with in our daily lives is white vinegar. If you have lemons at home, using lemon juice will be better.

③Alcohol

If you pay more attention to the news, you may know that capsaicin is extracted in industry by soaking and separating it with edible alcohol. In other words, the chemical elements in alcohol can take away capsaicin from peppers. Since this can be done in industry, it can naturally be done in life as well. However, you should pay attention to the method. You should not wash your hands with alcohol or soak your hands in alcohol. Instead, pour alcohol on a cotton ball, then use the cotton ball to repeatedly wipe your palms and fingers, and finally rinse with water.

Be sure to rub in the same direction, as this will help the capsaicin be removed by the alcohol.

④Hot water

It is better to have a short pain than a long one. Although it will be more uncomfortable when you first soak, the high temperature can accelerate the volatilization of capsaicin and thus shorten the pain time.
