Some common causes of stomach pain

1. Diet hurts the stomach

The stomach is responsible for receiving and digesting food and water, and its Qi is smooth when it is harmonious and descending. Therefore, the occurrence of stomach pain is most closely related to improper diet. If one eats excessively, drinks too much, damages the spleen and stomach, and causes food stagnation, this will lead to disharmony of stomach qi, stagnation of qi flow in the stomach, and pain if the qi flow is blocked; or if one consumes too much spicy food, or eats too much fat, sweet food, or drinks too much wine, this will damage the spleen and stomach, accumulate dampness and generate heat, block qi flow, and cause stagnation of stomach qi, which will cause pain if the qi flow is blocked, all of which can lead to stomach pain.

2. Cold pathogens invade the stomach

Cold is a yin evil, and its nature is stagnant and contracting. The upper part of the stomach is connected to the outside world through the mouth. When the weather is cold, the evil cold is absorbed through the mouth, or the abdomen is exposed to cold, and the evil cold directly invades the stomach, or the bitter and cold medicines are taken too much, or the stomach is injured by cold food, which causes cold stagnation and qi stagnation, stomach qi disharmony, and stomach qi stagnation. Pain occurs when the qi is blocked.

3. Mental stress

When a person is nervous, upset, or angry, his or her negative emotions can spread through the cerebral cortex to the limbic system, affecting the autonomic nervous system, directly leading to gastrointestinal dysfunction, secreting excessive gastric acid and pepsin, causing gastric vasoconstriction, pyloric spasm, emptying disorder, and damage to the protective layer of the gastric mucosa, resulting in self-digestion and the formation of ulcers.

4. Excessive drinking

Alcohol itself can directly damage the gastric mucosa. Alcohol can also cause cirrhosis and chronic pancreatitis, which in turn aggravates gastric damage.
