1. Symptoms of pharyngitis

Pharyngitis has an acute onset, with dryness and burning sensation in the throat at first, followed by pain, which worsens when swallowing and may radiate to the ears. Sometimes there is general discomfort, joint pain, headache, loss of appetite, and fever to varying degrees.

1. Acute pharyngitis

Acute pharyngitis is often caused by viruses, followed by bacteria. It is most common in winter and spring, and is caused by acute sinusitis and acute tonsillitis, and is often a complication of infectious diseases such as measles, influenza, and scarlet fever. Chronic pharyngitis is mainly caused by repeated attacks of acute pharyngitis due to incomplete treatment, which turns into a chronic disease, or by various nasal diseases, nasal obstruction, long-term mouth breathing, physical and chemical factors, neck radiotherapy, etc. that often stimulate the pharynx. The systemic symptoms are obvious, including fever, chills, headache, loss of appetite, sore limbs, etc.

2. Chronic pharyngitis

It is mainly due to incomplete treatment of acute pharyngitis leading to repeated attacks and turning into chronic disease, or due to various nasal diseases, nasal obstruction, long-term mouth breathing, physical, chemical factors, neck radiotherapy, etc. that often stimulate the pharynx. Various chronic diseases throughout the body, such as anemia, constipation, chronic inflammation of the lower respiratory tract, cardiovascular disease, etc., can also cause this disease secondarily. The patient feels discomfort in the throat, which may be dry, itchy, or swollen, with excessive secretions and burning pain, nausea, a foreign body sensation, and difficulty in coughing up or swallowing. The above symptoms worsen when talking a lot, eating irritating foods, feeling tired, or when the weather changes. Breathing and swallowing are unobstructed.

Depending on the severity of the lesion, it can be divided into chronic simple laryngitis, hypertrophic laryngitis and atrophic laryngitis.

2. Daily diet for chronic pharyngitis

1. Green Calyx Tea

Take 3g each of green-calyx plum, green tea, and orange peel, and 6g of Ligustrum lucidum. First, crush the Ligustrum lucidum fruit, put it in a cup with the first three ingredients, add boiling water to brew it and then you can drink it. Take 1 dose daily at any time. It has the functions of nourishing yin, relieving sore throat, promoting qi and resolving phlegm. It is beneficial for sore throat and discomfort caused by liver and kidney yin deficiency, rising of virtual fire, qi stagnation and phlegm accumulation, and foreign body sensation in the throat.

2. Monk Fruit Tea

The main function of this tea is to clear the lungs, eliminate phlegm, quench thirst and moisten the throat. It is mainly used to treat chronic pharyngitis, dry and uncomfortable throat caused by insufficient lung yin and accumulation of phlegm and heat, sore throat and loss of voice, or cough and dry mouth.

3. Mulberry, chrysanthemum and almond tea

10 grams each of almonds, mulberry leaves, and chrysanthemums, and an appropriate amount of rock sugar. Crush the almonds, and put them together with mulberry leaves, chrysanthemums and rock sugar in a thermos. Then add boiling water to brew it. Cover the lid and simmer for 15 minutes. Then drink it as tea, adding boiling water while drinking. One dose a day. Drinking it regularly can help resolve phlegm, relieve sore throat, clear away heat and relieve wind.
