What is the significance of cancer screening?

As we all know, there are many tumors in the human body. Tumors can be divided into benign and malignant types. Most tumors are very harmful, especially those that appear in the brain and internal organs. Whether benign or malignant, they will cause great harm to patients, and severe cases will directly endanger life safety. Therefore, early treatment is needed. In addition, it is necessary to go to the hospital for tumor screening. The significance of tumor screening is introduced in detail below.

The significance of cancer screening:

The three tumor tests refer to carcinoembryonic antigen, alpha-fetoprotein and cancer antigen 50. These three tests are to check whether you have cancer. Some people think that as long as one of the three shows a high level, you have a certain type of cancer. In fact, this statement is wrong. These three tests cannot determine cancer. Other tests are needed to determine whether you have cancer. These three tests only play an auxiliary role.

Carcinoembryonic antigen is abbreviated as CEA. It exists in the digestive tract tissue and is widely used in the medical field to examine gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma, breast cancer, etc. Alpha-fetoprotein, abbreviated as AFP, exists in embryonic cells and is widely used in the medical field to detect liver cancer and germ cell cancer. Cancer antigen 50, also known as carbohydrate antigen, abbreviated as CA50, exists in the pancreas and is used in the medical field to detect liver cancer, gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. Therefore, the significance of the three tumor tests is inseparable from the five words "check cancer cells".

Tumors have their own markers, which refer to a class of substances that are synthesized and released by tumor cells when the tumor occurs and develops, or are produced by the human body's response to tumor cells. In some cases, tumor marker values will increase, especially in patients with malignant tumors, but not all malignant tumors will cause markers to increase. The second is a slight increase in inflammation or cancer cells. Third, the samples were stored improperly. Fourth is the use of drugs. Five are special circumstances, which include drunkenness, poor sleep quality, pregnancy and menstruation.

Of course, the high or low value of tumor markers cannot confirm that you have a tumor. The data from the physical examination report of the three tumor tests will be compared with the normal data. If the measured tumor marker value is significantly higher than the normal value, then there is a high possibility of cancer, and further examination will be needed.

The three tumor examinations are very necessary. Although an increase in tumor marker values cannot confirm that there is a tumor, it cannot rule out the absence of a tumor. Moreover, if a tumor is present, the tumor marker values will definitely increase. In order to stay away from cancer, you should learn more about cancer, maintain your health through a series of examinations, and try to prevent and treat it early.
