The main source of infection of Japanese encephalitis

Japanese encephalitis is a disease that is an infectious disease caused by a virus. Therefore, patients with Japanese encephalitis should go to the hospital for examination, treatment, and isolation. Japanese encephalitis is actually an inflammatory phenomenon, so it can cause people to have a fever. Therefore, before being infected with the Japanese encephalitis virus, you should be injected with the Japanese encephalitis vaccine, which can effectively prevent viral infection. So what is the main source of infection for Japanese encephalitis?

Japanese encephalitis virus is abbreviated as Japanese encephalitis virus. The causative agent of Japanese encephalitis. It is spherical, the nucleic acid is single-stranded RNA, the outer layer has an envelope, and there is hemagglutinin on the surface of the envelope. Under low temperature conditions, it can proliferate from bottom to top for a long time and can proliferate in animals, chicken embryos and tissue culture cells. Piglets are the main source of infection and intermediate host of JE virus, and mosquitoes are the vectors of JE virus. When a person is bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus, the Japanese encephalitis virus enters the human body, proliferates in phagocytes such as vascular endothelial cells, lymph nodes, liver, and spleen, and reaches the brain through the blood circulation, causing inflammation.

Abbreviated as Japanese encephalitis virus, it belongs to the genus Flavivirus of the family Flaviviridae of arbovirus. The main symptoms are high fever, headache, vomiting, drowsiness, convulsions, etc. Severe cases may result in high fever, convulsions, cerebral edema, respiratory or circulatory failure and death, and some patients may suffer from sequelae. Eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and killing overwintering and newly generated mosquitoes are the keys to preventing Japanese encephalitis. Pigs are the main intermediate hosts and sources of infection of the Japanese encephalitis virus. Before the Japanese encephalitis epidemic season, pigs should be given preventive injections to effectively reduce the incidence of Japanese encephalitis. Vaccination can improve human resistance to Japanese encephalitis virus infection and is also effective in preventing Japanese encephalitis. There is no specific treatment for Japanese encephalitis. Early hospitalization and integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment can greatly improve the cure rate and reduce sequelae.

Immunity

After people are infected with Japanese encephalitis virus, most of them have latent infection and partial abortive infection, and only a few develop encephalitis (0.01%). This is related to the virulence of the virus, the amount of virus invaded into the body and the immunity of the infected person. Most adults in epidemic areas have a certain degree of immunity, and most infections are latent. Children under 10 years old and adults in non-epidemic areas lack immunity and are prone to disease after infection.

Hemagglutination inhibition antibodies may appear 4 to 5 days after the onset of the disease, reach a peak in 2 to 4 weeks, and last for about a year. Complement-binding antibodies can only be detected 2 to 3 weeks after onset and last for about half a year. Neutralizing antibodies appear about one week after the onset of the disease and remain at high levels for 5 years or even for life. People in epidemic areas are constantly bitten by virus-carrying mosquitoes every year, which gradually increases their immunity, and the antibody positivity rate often increases with age.
