Benefits of long walks

Benefits of long walks

In fact, not all exercise is strenuous. Sometimes walking can be considered a good exercise. Through long walks, you can exercise your lower body well and change a person's physical condition. Nowadays, many people may not move around much throughout the day due to work reasons, which is very harmful to the human body. Therefore, you can achieve the purpose of exercise by taking appropriate long walks in your spare time.

There is no medical consensus on whether exercise can prolong life, but it has long been proven by medicine that moderate exercise can enhance physical fitness and improve a person's living conditions. The medical community defines blood pressure, heart rate, respiration and body temperature as signs of life. Nowadays, medical experts have gradually reached a consensus on listing aerobic exercise capacity as the fifth vital sign.

As the saying goes, "People's legs age first." Walking exercise can not only prevent and relieve some major and minor diseases, but it is also easier and more convenient than strenuous exercises such as running.

“Get rid of” osteoporosis. As you age, your bone density will become lower and lower, which means that there will be many large gaps in the bones, and the bone structure will become brittle, just like a wooden chopstick with many holes bitten by insects, which will break with a slight bend. If a person's skeleton is like this, if they fall without paying attention, they may fall down there and suffer fractures. Medical research shows that walking a certain amount every day can exercise bone growth, help increase bone density, make the gaps more compact, and make the bone structure stronger.

“Get rid of” constipation. Constipation is caused by poor digestive function. To put it simply, the intestinal peristalsis is very slow and the stool accumulates in the intestine and cannot be excreted. But when people walk, they can improve metabolism, promote the stomach's digestive ability, and thus speed up intestinal peristalsis. When you walk, your intestines also walk, helping you to clear out toxins and waste in the intestines. If you walk for one hour a day, the risk of constipation will be reduced by half.

“Get rid of” forgetfulness. Medical surveys have found that people who walk regularly have much better memory than those who sit for a long time, and people who work outdoors are much more creative than those who work in an office. When people are active, brain cells also move along with them. When you sit, the brain's activity slows down, and people who sit for a long time will have worse memory. Especially for the elderly, proper walking every day can also alleviate Alzheimer's disease.

Get rid of obesity. Exercise is the only reliable way to lose weight. For many people who don’t want to run, walking is a good way. Walking for one hour every day can burn more than 400 calories and increase your metabolism by 20%. With increased metabolism, the body's consumption of food will increase, the amount of fat converted will decrease, and it will not be so easy to gain weight.

“Get rid of” high blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause the blood vessel walls to lose their elasticity, making them rough and damaged. As a result, some lipids will adhere to the blood vessel walls. These lipids will block the blood vessel channels and collect tolls, making it difficult for blood to pass through. In order to maintain the functioning of the body, the heart continues to increase its efforts to pump blood into the blood vessels. If it continues to pump blood while there is a blockage, the blood vessels may rupture or become completely blocked, causing diseases such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Walking for an hour every day can help improve blood circulation, remove lipids attached to blood vessels, and reduce the risk of disease.

“Get rid of” back pain. After a day's work, you will inevitably feel back pain and leg cramps. At this time, you can walk to help you relieve the discomfort. When walking, you need to keep your head up and chest out, and let your hands swing with your body. This can relieve shoulder and neck pain caused by long hours of work and help stretch the muscles in the waist and back.
