The dangers of being alone for a long time

The dangers of being alone for a long time

As primates, humans have a social effect. According to Darwin's theory of biological evolution, this kind of group effect can help people form groups and thus gain advantages in evolution, which is in line with the idea of "natural selection and survival of the fittest." In modern society, this population utility is more strongly reflected, and people who are alone for a long time are also affected by related harms. According to research, people who stay alone for a long time are more likely to suffer from autism, which manifests itself as communication disorders in social situations.

First of all, due to lack of communication, your ability to express yourself will decline, and gradually you won’t know how to chat with others pleasantly. When you occasionally go out and interact with people, you will find that you can no longer understand what others are saying. You gradually fail to fit into your original circle of friends.

Secondly, social isolation affects people on a spiritual level. In the 1990s, Romanian researchers discovered that children raised in orphanages lacked close social contact and often had serious behavioral, emotional, and even mental problems. The same thing is that the "wolf children" reported before were far away from the human world and lacked basic communication with humans during their growth process. When they were discovered, they could only live like wolves, and their IQ was only close to that of children with 4 to 5.

Third, it will aggravate depression and anxiety. Psychological studies have shown that long-term self-isolation is strongly linked to depression and social anxiety. A person who is anxious about socializing or suffering from depression is more likely to choose to isolate himself. They will feel that they have no ability and energy to face the outside world.

Eventually, a decline in intelligence may occur. Although long-term solitude also requires the support of psychological factors such as intellectual ability, this kind of exercise is far less than in social situations. Therefore, long-term solitude means a lack of these abilities that can be exercised. If a person's brain function is in a stagnant state for a long time, then its "functionality" will decline.
