How to treat cold rheumatism

How to treat cold rheumatism

Cold rheumatism is a common disease among the elderly nowadays. Cold rheumatism is caused by wind-cold, etc. Patients with cold rheumatism will experience abnormal pain in the knee joints when it is cloudy and rainy or when seasons change, which often causes unbearable pain. Moreover, cold rheumatism is difficult to cure completely, and many elderly people suffer from it. So, how should cold rheumatism be treated?

1. How to treat cold rheumatism

Cold rheumatism is joint pain caused by wind, cold and dampness, which refers to a disease with muscle and joint pain as the main symptoms caused by the human body being affected by wind, cold and dampness. Its characteristic is that the condition worsens when encountering cold or weather changes. The main symptom is pain, and there is no local inflammation such as redness, swelling and heat in the affected joints. The examination showed basically no abnormalities. It is recommended to see a Chinese medicine doctor, who can use Chinese herbal prescriptions such as Wutou Decoction for treatment. Keep warm, do moxibustion, and exercise.

2. What is the difference between hot rheumatism and cold rheumatism?

In Western medicine, there is no such thing as hot rheumatism and cold rheumatism. From the perspective of Western medicine alone, it is mainly divided into two types: rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever is mainly caused by streptococcal infection, while rheumatoid arthritis is a sterile bone and joint disease.

3. What causes rheumatism?

1. Immune response: The body's stimulation of exogenous or endogenous antigens directly or through macrophage presentation activates the corresponding T cells, and some T cells produce a large number of various inflammatory cytokines, causing varying degrees of damage or destruction to various tissues and organs; some T cells then activate B cells to produce a large number of antibodies, which directly or combine with antigens to form immune complexes, causing damage or destruction to tissues or organs.

2. Genetic background: Studies in recent years have shown that some rheumatic diseases, especially connective tissue diseases, are closely related to genetics and patient susceptibility and disease expression, which has certain significance for early or atypical cases of the disease and prognosis; among them, HLA (human tissue leukocyte antigen) is the most important.

3. Infectious factors: According to years of research, a variety of infectious factors, antigens or superantigens produced by microorganisms can directly or indirectly stimulate or initiate immune responses.

4. Endocrine factors: Studies have shown that the imbalance of estrogen and progesterone is related to the occurrence of various rheumatic diseases.

5. Environmental and physical factors: ultraviolet rays can induce SLE.
