Effect of altitude on blood pressure

Effect of altitude on blood pressure

Generally speaking, the higher the altitude, the less oxygen content there is. This is also an important factor that causes altitude sickness for many people when they first arrive in Tibet. Severe altitude sickness can threaten a person's life, so everyone must pay attention to the problem of altitude sickness. At the same time, the higher the altitude, the higher the air pressure. Therefore, many people wonder whether blood pressure is related to altitude.

High blood pressure linked to altitude

Environmental factors are one of the causes of hypertension. Scientific research shows that the lack of negative ions in the environment is also an important mechanism for the onset of hypertension. Negative ions in the air enter the lungs through the respiratory tract, enter the blood circulation through the membrane exchange system, and reach various tissues and organs throughout the body with the blood circulation to directly stimulate nerve reflexes and act on various systems of the body through body fluids, producing good physiological effects.

When negative ions enter the blood, they release electric charges, although very small, but they are very sensitive to the blood charge in a balanced state. They will directly affect the composition and distribution of charged particles in the blood, making the abnormal blood morphology and physical and chemical characteristics normal, and by promoting the redox process of collective tissues, especially by strengthening the oxidation process of important tissues such as the liver, brain, and kidneys, it activates a variety of enzyme systems to adjust and optimize the body's fat, protein, carbohydrate, water and electrolyte metabolism.

Therefore, the lack of negative ions in the air is also an important cause of high blood pressure, so it can be said that high blood pressure is related to altitude.
