What harm does a strong magnetic field do to the human body

Strong magnetic fields belong to the category of benevolent wave radiation, which has a longer wavelength but is somewhat harmful to the human body. However, the strong magnetic fields we hear about in our daily lives are only used in some medical treatments, and magnetic resonance imaging is the most obvious one among them. So what kind of harm does a strong magnetic field do to the human body? In addition to stimulating the heart, it also has a great stimulating effect on other parts of the human body. The following is relevant information.

1. Thermal effect

The thermal effect of electromagnetic waves can cause the temperature of biological tissue cells to rise. Studies have shown that microwaves with wavelengths below 3cm can penetrate 1cm through the skin, while microwaves with a wavelength of 0.25-1m can penetrate the skin and reach various organs of the human body. Microwaves absorbed by the skin are converted into heat, causing the temperature of body tissue to rise. The results of animal experiments show that an increase in the body's temperature causes changes in behavior and produces abnormal actions. Moreover, uterine temperature above 39°C affects the immune function of the organism. According to analysis, the places in the body most susceptible to this heat effect are the lens of the eye and the testicles, which have almost no blood vessels. The most serious harm of electromagnetic waves to the eyes is lens cataract.

2. Stimulation

The stimulation of electromagnetic waves has an electric induction effect. Electrical signals regulate all functions of the human body. Observation of nerve cells, muscle cells and other cells that are the smallest functional units of the human body that can be excited shows that when the potential difference between the two ends of such cells reaches a certain level, they transmit excitation signals to the nervous system or contract muscles. However, the electric current flowing into the human body from the outside causes abnormalities in the biological circuit system of the nerve excitation conduction system and the muscle movement system, causing certain changes in the human body. This external electrical current stimulates nerve cells to produce the sensation of electric shock, and stimulates muscles to produce muscle contraction or involuntary muscle movement. Stimulating the myocardium causes the ventricles to soften and the heart to stop beating, while stimulating the respiratory muscles causes breathing to stop.

3. Non-thermal effects

Most of the epidemiological survey results mentioned above, such as the electromagnetic fields from high-voltage transmission lines causing childhood leukemia, fall into this category. The effects on non-thermal effects are currently difficult to identify and therefore cannot be clearly explained. When the cerebral cortex of chickens and cats was placed in UHF and VHF with low frequency modulation, calcium ions were found to flow out. Information transmission, immune system function, and cell proliferation are inseparable from calcium ions. The experimental results show that low frequencies of 50-60HZ also cause calcium ions to flow out. It can be seen that general household appliances (60HZ) are also harmful to the human body.
