It has a pointed beak and protruding eye bones. Its trunk is wide and flat, and its abdomen is flat. There are four longitudinal ridges on its back, and 4 to 5 arc-shaped horizontal lines intersecting with the longitudinal ridges to form a tile shape. The tail has 4 longitudinal ridges, which are segmented and square-columnar, and become smaller towards the tail end. It has a fishy smell and a salty taste.
