Why is my face often swollen?

Some people find their faces a little swollen when looking in the mirror in the morning. They look very haggard, and the swelling does not go away for a while. Why does the face often swell? Some people may find that their face is swollen when they get up in the morning after staying up late at night. This is related to poor blood circulation. Some people are in the habit of drinking water before going to bed at night. Not only will their face become swollen, but it will also put a greater burden on the kidneys. This habit should be improved.

1. What causes a swollen face?

1.1. Poor blood circulation

This type of edema caused by poor blood circulation often occurs in people with poor blood circulation and metabolism, including the habit of drinking a lot of water before going to bed, sitting for a long time, sleeping in an incorrect posture, staying up late, and having poor physical metabolism. These effects result in a deterioration in the blood circulation system, which is unable to excrete excess waste water from the body. The water is retained in the capillaries and even seeps back into the skin, causing swelling. However, this edema will gradually subside automatically after you get up and move around for a while.

1.2. Unbalanced nutrition

They like to eat salty and spicy food, which is what we often call a strong taste. They usually have a single diet, unbalanced nutritional intake, and long-term edema of the face and lower limbs. We have been emphasizing a "low-salt" diet. When there is too much salt in the diet and certain minerals are lacking, it is easy to cause edema due to nutritional imbalance. If you have any chronic diseases, the trouble will be even greater.

1.3. Premenstrual endocrine causes

In the week or half a month before the menstrual period, there will be mild swelling of the eyelids, back of the hands, ankles and even both lower limbs. This symptom will improve after the menstrual period. This type of edema is mostly related to changes in the menstrual cycle and endocrine function, and is a normal physiological phenomenon. When menstruation comes, urine output increases, and edema and other symptoms may gradually subside.

1.4. Signals of Certain Diseases

The reason for facial swelling is that swelling is often a signal of heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, endocrine disease and other diseases. Of course, some edema is not a manifestation of disease, but a physiological reaction.

2. How to reduce facial swelling

2.1. Massage the jaw joint

Method: You can massage the mandibular joint before meals. Open your hands, put your thumb and index finger together, and put your middle finger, ring finger and little finger together. Place the space between the middle finger and index finger under your ear. Open your mouth and gently rub your cheeks upwards. Then close your mouth and gently rub and massage your jaw from top to bottom. Do this back and forth 10 times.

Principle: Massage can open up the facial meridians, promote blood flow, and expel toxins, which is very helpful in eliminating facial swelling.

2.2. Drink black coffee

Method: After breakfast, drink a cup of pure black coffee. After about 30 minutes to 1 hour, you will see that the swelling on your face has disappeared.

Principle: The caffeine contained in black coffee has the effect of drainage and diuresis, and accelerates the consumption of body calories, so it can quickly eliminate facial swelling, especially eye swelling.

2.3. Boiled eggs to reduce swelling

If your face is swollen due to trauma, you can use boiled eggs to help reduce the swelling quickly. The temperature of eggs can speed up the local blood circulation of facial bruises and help to remove blood stasis and reduce swelling.

Method: Boil the eggs, peel them, and directly touch the swollen area on your face with the peeled eggs. Be careful to avoid burns.
