Do grasshoppers have parasites?

The crawling cicada is also called cicada. When it is still fully grown, it cannot fly and can only crawl. We all know that cicadas live in the soil. Some crawl out from under tree roots, and some even crawl out from feces. They don’t look very clean themselves. Just imagine what kind of food cicadas eat and what kind of itchy environment they live in. It would definitely be bad for people if they ate them. There are parasites on their heads and limbs, so they must be cooked thoroughly before eating.

Climbing grasshopper: also known as golden cicada, climbing monkey, climbing fork, grasshopper cicada, Du Lao monkey (Du Le monkey), Zhi Lao monkey (zhi Le monkey), cicada monkey, cicada turtle, cicada monkey, old cricket pupa, it is known as golden lump and Tang Monk's meat.

The larvae of cicadas are yellowish-brown or light red, covered with mud, and are good at crawling. They lurk underground in many trees and survive by sucking sap from the roots. When night falls in summer, grasshoppers emerge from the soft soil, climb onto tree trunks or grass tips, and transform into cicadas.

The best season for field harvesting is from mid-to-late June (around the summer solstice) to early August (around the autumn harvest season), with the most concentrated harvesting taking place in early July or after rain. The nymphs (cicada turtles) dig holes in the soft and wet underground with their serrated pair of front legs. After crawling out of the ground, they move for a short period of time on the ground, and then climb on tree trunks or trellises to prepare for molting. They emerge as adult cicadas at 4 to 6 a.m. the next day. You can use a flashlight to illuminate and catch them on the ground under trees and on tree trunks at night, or catch the emerging young adult cicadas on the trees in the early morning.

During the production season, the collected fresh larvae are washed with clean water to remove mud and sand, and placed in a box of 50 grams. Water is added to submerge the nymphs (cicada turtles) in the box and the box is frozen in the refrigerator for storage. It can be processed and reused after re-cleaning. There are several ways to store nymphs (cicada turtles), including long-term storage such as freezing or pickling. When freezing, they must be soaked in water, which is equivalent to being temporarily dizzy. When the ice melts, they can still crawl. If they are not soaked in water and frozen directly, they will die, their eyeballs will change color, and their abdomen will turn black, and they will lose their nutritional value. There are short-term storage such as flooding, soaking in dilute salt water or natural storage after unearthed. When flooding, you should pay attention to the time can only be controlled within two or three days, to change the water frequently, otherwise it will die and stink.

When eating, you can heat the pot and add a proper amount of peanut oil. After the oil boils, put the cicada turtle into the pot, fry it over low heat, serve it on a plate, sprinkle a little fine iodized salt on it and eat it hot. It tastes particularly fresh and tender. The processing and cooking method of cicadas after removing their wings is the same as that of cicada turtles.

As a traditional Chinese medicine ingredient, cicada shells have antibacterial, cold-relieving, tranquilizing and diuretic functions. Its shell after being cooked can make your eyes more moisturized and has the function of protecting the eyes.
