My left cheek hurts

My left cheek hurts

In daily life, many people have experienced cheek pain due to reasons such as getting angry. The most common phenomenon is pain in one side of the cheek. Sometimes, not only the cheek pain is accompanied by fever and redness and swelling of the face. There are many reasons for this phenomenon. Only by adjusting according to different reasons can the cheek pain disappear quickly.

Nutritional deficiencies

White-collar workers, gold-collar workers and red-collar workers are the high-risk groups for trigeminal neuralgia, which is mainly caused by being a vegetarian or not eating staple foods, blindly dieting, and lack of necessary nutrients in the body. People suffering from trigeminal neuralgia need a high-carbohydrate diet to supply energy and protect nerve function. In addition, vitamin B1 and vitamin C can effectively protect the nerves. Once the human body lacks vitamin B1, it can easily cause trigeminal neuralgia or make the original condition worse.

Trigger Point

The location and size of patients' "trigger points" vary, some are as small as a dot or a beard, and most of them are located on the lips, wings of the nose, cheeks, corners of the mouth, tongue, eyes, eyebrows, etc. Pain may be triggered by blowing the nose, chewing, yawning, talking, swallowing, washing the face, brushing the teeth, frowning, shaving, or by exposure to hot or cold water. People with a history of trigeminal neuralgia should be gentle when touching or cleaning these sensitive areas. At the same time, be sure to take measures to keep warm.

Frequent consumption of spicy foods

Too cold, too hot and extremely irritating food are one of the causes of trigeminal neuralgia. For example, nicotine in cigarettes can cause blood vessels to constrict, drinking strong tea can enhance nerve excitability and cause arteriolar spasm, dry cheese, aged game, pickled fish and pickles contain more tyrosine, and ham contains nitrite. These foods can cause cerebral vasodilation and stimulate neuralgia. In addition, seafood, eggs, milk, chocolate, beer, coffee, oranges and tomatoes will produce 5-hydroxytryptamine after entering the human body, which can also cause disorders in the vasomotor function of the brain. Patients with trigeminal neuralgia should choose the foods mentioned above with caution.

Mental stimulation

Some trigeminal neuralgia patients are emotionally and psychologically unable to let go due to fear of pain. They are nervous all day long and worry about the possible pain that may come. As a result, they suffer from liver depression and qi stagnation, which turns into fire over time, disturbing the brain and causing trigeminal neuralgia attacks. Studies have shown that under the same pain stimulation, people who are emotionally calm feel less pain and have a milder pain reaction than those who are nervous. Therefore, patients with trigeminal neuralgia must relax, avoid distractions, and focus on other things of interest.
