How about enzyme laundry detergent

How about enzyme laundry detergent

There are already too many advertisements for laundry detergents now, and there are more and more different types of laundry detergents. Many people have a lot of questions when buying laundry detergent and don't know what kind of laundry detergent to buy. The ingredients of laundry detergents are all similar, but a new type of laundry detergent, enzyme laundry detergent, has recently come into people's attention. For a new product, people always have some questions, what about enzyme laundry detergent?

Enzyme laundry detergent has strong cleaning power and is relatively gentle, making it very suitable for washing baby clothes, so I became interested in it. Japanese enzyme laundry detergent is better, so I asked my Japanese friend to bring some for me. My friend bought me Sarasa enzyme laundry detergent, saying that it is used by many mothers in Japan. It is indeed easy to use. It is very effective in removing yellow stains from clothes. It does not produce much foam and is easy to rinse. It also has a light citrus scent.

The working principle of laundry detergent is similar to that of traditional laundry powder and soap, and the active ingredients are all surfactants. The difference is: traditional laundry detergent and soap use anionic surfactants, mainly sodium alkyl sulfonate and sodium stearate, which are highly alkaline (the pH of laundry detergent is generally greater than 12), and thus cause greater irritation and damage to the skin when used.

Laundry detergent mostly uses non-ionic surfactants with a pH close to neutral, which is gentle to the skin. After being discharged into nature, it degrades faster than washing powder, so it has become a new generation of detergent.

1. catalyst

Enzymes are catalysts. Catalysts speed up chemical reactions without being consumed in the process. Because enzymes can work over and over again, only small amounts of enzymes are needed in laundry detergent formulations. However, this does not mean that the same detergent solution can be used again and again for many washes - although the enzymes may remain active, the limited amounts of other key ingredients restrict the amount of soil that can be suspended in solution with each detergent dose.

Most enzymes will be destroyed by high temperatures, that is, above 60°C. They are generally most effective in warm water temperatures (e.g. 40°C), however some enzymes work best in cold water.

2. Stain removal

Different enzymes break down different types of stains. Some enzymes degrade protein stains (such as blood, dairy, eggs, meat, mud, and grass) into small units called "peptides."

Other enzymes break down carbohydrates, such as potatoes, pasta, and rice, into smaller molecules called "oligosaccharides" or "monosaccharides." There are also enzymes that break down fats (or "lipids"), such as butter and oils.

No matter what type of stain, after its enzyme-driven breakdown, surfactants suspend the resulting fragments in solution.

3. Color and fabric protection

Some enzymes smooth cotton fabrics by cutting fibers protruding from the surface. The smooth cotton surface means dirt is not easily absorbed by the fibers and is released more easily. Enzymes can also help remove lint and can help protect the color of fabrics.

The most common enzymes used in detergents are proteases (which break down proteins), amylases (which break down starch—a type of carbohydrate), and lipases (which break down fats).
