One cheek is sunken

One cheek is sunken

Face is very important to all of us, it is our appearance. Especially in this age where appearance is very important, a beautiful face has many benefits not only for your life but also for your interpersonal relationship management. But not everyone has a beautiful face. Some people feel that their faces are asymmetrical and one cheek is sunken. Why is that?

Clinically, one side of the face appears normal while the other side is sunken. There are many reasons for this, including congenital developmental malformations, trauma, facial neuritis, muscle atrophy caused by other local reasons, etc. It is best to go to the hospital for a clear examination and diagnosis so as to get the corresponding treatment. I wish you good health!

Sunken cheeks are one of the causes of distress for thin people. Those with obvious sunken cheeks have protruding zygomatic arches, sunken cheeks, fine wrinkles on the cheeks and corners of the mouth, dry skin, dull and sallow complexion, and look much older than their actual age.

Intellectual and motor development disorders can lead to short stature, clumsy movements, language disorders, mental retardation, and a coarse face, showing characteristics of mucopolysaccharidosis type I, manifested by obvious sunken cheeks, collapsed nose and short neck. About half of the cases have skin lesions such as larger skin moles, photosensitive pigmentation and rosacea. Most cases may have psychiatric symptoms, manifested as aggressive and abnormal behavior or manic and depressive psychosis. Other manifestations may include mild liver enlargement, aortic valve hypertrophy and stenosis, and other heart abnormalities.

The differential diagnosis should be made with the following symptoms:

1. When you wake up in the morning, you suddenly find that your cheeks are not moving properly or are crooked.
