Cupping method

Cupping method

There are many methods of cupping. Cupping is a method of Chinese medicine therapy. This method has the effect of relaxing muscles and activating blood circulation. It is mainly used to treat rheumatic diseases. The main principle of this method is to burn the oxygen in the cup to reduce the air in the cup, thereby creating negative pressure. In this way, the cupping cup is adsorbed on the skin. There are many methods of cupping, such as fire throwing method, internal fire method, etc. Let us take a closer look at the methods of cupping.

1. Fire throwing method: Light a small piece of paper, a small amount of cotton, etc., and throw it into the can. Before the paper is burned out, quickly cover the can over the part to be pulled out, and it can be absorbed onto the body surface.

2. Internal fire method: Use tweezers to hold the lit alcohol cotton ball, circle it inside the can, and quickly cover the can over the part to be pulled out, and it will be sucked.

3. Cotton sticking method: Use a 1 cm square piece of cotton, not too thick, slightly soak it in alcohol, stick it to the middle of the inner wall of the jar, then light it, cover the selected part, and it will be absorbed.

4. Fire method: Use a block of object that is not easy to burn and conduct heat, with a diameter of 2 to 3 cm, place it on the part to be pulled, put a small piece of alcohol cotton ball on it, and then put the can on after lighting it. It can generate strong suction to make the can be sucked.

According to the classification of cupping methods, it can be divided into the following methods:

1. Single can: used for small lesions or obvious tender points. You can choose a cupping jar of appropriate caliber according to the size of the lesion or tenderness.

2. Multiple cans: used for diseases with a wide range of lesions. Several or even dozens of cups can be arranged to suction the affected area, which is called the "cupping method." If a muscle bundle is strained, cupping can be arranged in rows according to the location of the muscle bundle.

3. Flash cupping: suck and remove immediately, repeat several times. Pull the cup up and quickly take it down, then pull it up again and take it down again, repeat this process several times until the skin becomes flushed. It is mostly used for deficiency syndrome with local skin numbness or hypofunction.

4. Leave the cup in place for a certain period of time after suction. After cupping, leave it on for 5 to 20 minutes. If the cup is large and has strong suction power, the cupping time should be reduced appropriately. In summer and in areas with thin skin, the cupping time should not be too long to avoid damaging the skin.
