Red fire ants not only attack humans, but can also damage electronic equipment, medical devices, etc. Once a red fire ant's nest is built, these creatures will fight to the death to defend themselves if there is a risk of destruction. The venom produced by red fire ants is extremely deadly. Not only will there be a poisonous bubble-like condition, but it will also be accompanied by symptoms such as pain and shock. Be sure to pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness after the sting. The red fire ant is native to Paraguay and the Panama Canal area in South America and is a highly invasive species. In recent years, with the process of world economic globalization, red fire ants have spread rapidly to other parts of the world. It is called red fire ant because when a person is bitten by it, it will cause pain like being burned by fire, followed by blisters like burns. Local skin forms erythema, blisters, hard swellings and itching, and after the blisters burst, they often cause secondary bacterial infection. A small number of people with sensitive constitutions may suffer from severe anaphylactic shock, which is mainly manifested by systemic allergic reaction, as well as symptoms of circulatory failure such as laryngeal or bronchial edema and spasm, difficulty breathing, pale complexion, cold limbs, and low blood pressure. In addition, people who are bitten may experience dizziness, convulsions, etc. due to brain hypoxia and cerebral edema. Unlike bees, which sting only once, red fire ants can sting multiple times, and often in large numbers. After being bitten by a red fire ant, wash the bitten area with soap and water, and apply ice compresses. Generally, you can apply steroid-containing ointments such as Fuqingsong Ointment, Piyanping, and Pikang Cream to the affected area; try to avoid scratching the affected area to avoid breaking the pus bubble to prevent secondary infection of the wound. If multiple parts of the body are injured or systemic symptoms or allergies occur, you must go to the hospital immediately. Using fenoxycarb or ferric barbaryl can also effectively kill red fire ants. Liu Wenhua said that fenoxycarb is low-toxic to humans and animals, and safe to natural enemies and beneficial insects. You can also use poison bait to control the red fire ant population. Some chronic stomach poisons are usually used as baits, such as sulfluramid, hydrazone, pyriproxyfen and boric acid, as well as chitin synthesis inhibitors. The bait can be protein, fat, carbohydrate or a mixture of these. When placing poison bait, you should pay attention to weather conditions. The effect of poison bait is poor after rain or on dewy grass, and the effect is best when the outdoor temperature is above 21°C. It is best to prepare the poison bait before use. During use, monitor the feeding situation of red fire ants on the poison bait at any time and replace the poison bait in time. Poison bait bought from the store should be used promptly after opening to avoid it becoming ineffective after a certain period of time. |
