What are the first aid measures for gas poisoning

The gas poisoning we often talk about is actually carbon monoxide poisoning. Gas poisoning is very harmful to our body. It can not only cause us to have symptoms such as dizziness and panic, but may even cause us to have low blood pressure and limp limbs. Therefore, in our daily life, in addition to taking precautions against gas poisoning, we should also understand some first aid methods for gas poisoning. Below we will introduce some first aid measures for gas poisoning.

Gas poisoning is carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas with the chemical formula CO. The causes of poisoning are mainly burning coal for heating in a poorly ventilated environment, gas pipeline leaks, use of water heaters, etc.

When a large amount of carbon monoxide is inhaled into the body, a large amount of carboxyhemoglobin will be formed, leading to acute hemorrhagic hypoxia, because the affinity of carbon monoxide to hemoglobin is 300 times greater than that of oxygen. Lack of oxygen can cause damage to the central nervous system, resulting in cerebral vasospasm, cerebral edema, brain tissue damage and death.

Depending on the amount inhaled, the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Symptoms of mild poisoning include dizziness, chest tightness, palpitations, blurred vision, nausea, tinnitus, weak legs, headache, etc. If the patient leaves the poisoning environment in time and breathes fresh air, the poisoning symptoms will disappear soon.

Symptoms of moderate poisoning include, in addition to the symptoms of mild poisoning, increased breathing and pulse, general weakness, flushed face, cold limbs, and drowsiness. The patient's lips, chest, and limbs have flushed skin, such as cherry color. After the patient is removed from the poisoning environment and breathes fresh air or oxygen, the patient can wake up quickly and generally will not have any sequelae.

Severely poisoned patients fall into a deep coma, suffer from incontinence, rapid and shallow breathing, limp limbs, disappearance of all reflexes, decreased blood pressure, and pupils that first shrink and then dilate. Even if the rescue is successful at this time, it will leave sequelae of mental disorders.

1. Open the doors and windows indoors, quickly move the patient to the fresh air outdoors, and unbutton the patient's clothes.

2 If the patient can drink water, give him hot sugar tea or other hot drinks.

3. If the patient's breathing and heartbeat have stopped, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation immediately.

4 If the patient is already in a coma, acupuncture can be performed immediately on the Ren Zhong, Lao Gong, Yong Quan, Shi Xuan and other acupoints to help him wake up.

5. After the above emergency treatment, patients with moderate or severe conditions should be sent to the hospital in time for further rescue and treatment.

In the above article, we introduced gas poisoning. We know that gas poisoning is actually carbon monoxide poisoning. Gas poisoning is very harmful to us, so we not only need to know how to prevent gas poisoning, but also need to master the first aid measures for gas poisoning.
