Why do I get a headache when I’m angry?

In life, people often say that anger hurts the liver. We should try to be less angry in normal times. Some people experience headaches and brain swelling after getting angry. This phenomenon is generally caused by stagnation of liver qi and poor circulation of qi and blood. When the human body is angry, the stagnation of liver qi will be aggravated, causing the body's qi to rise, thus causing headaches and brain swelling. You can take liver-soothing and qi-regulating drugs to treat it, exercise appropriately, and enhance the body's resistance.

What medicine should I take for headache?

Narcotic pain medication

This type of medication has the best analgesic effect and is effective for all headaches and even pain in other parts of the body. But its serious disadvantage is that it is extremely addictive. Continuous use of the drug for several times will lead to a "vicious circle": the headache disappears without a trace as soon as the drug is taken, but the headache comes back again as soon as the effect of the drug wears off. Moreover, once addiction occurs and the drug is discontinued, withdrawal symptoms will appear again. Therefore, although such drugs are cheap, they are strictly controlled and managed by the state, and there are strict regulations on their use.

Antipyretic and analgesic drugs

This type of medicine not only relieves pain, but also has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-rheumatic effects. It is low in price, so it is widely used. Among them, the most representative aspirin is particularly prominent. It has the longest history of use, doctors are more familiar with its characteristics, it is relatively safe to use, and its effects are reliable. Others include analgin, phenacetin, paracetamol, aminopyrine, ibuprofen, and craniostatin.

Anti-anxiety medications

Since many patients' headaches are caused by emotional reactions such as anxiety, irritability, tension, and uneasiness, and those headaches that are not caused by psychological factors can also make patients upset and restless when they occur. Therefore, the use of antianxiety drugs is essential when controlling headache attacks, especially for tension headaches. This type of medicine can stabilize the patient's mood and relax the whole body, thereby relieving headaches. The most commonly used are benzodiazepines, such as diazepam, chlordiazepoxide, nitrazepam, clonazepam, sedation, chlordiazepoxide, and triazolam. This type of drug has a long duration of action in the body, mild side effects, and a certain sedative effect. However, long-term use can also cause addiction, so it is recommended that continuous use should not exceed 10 days and should be used under the guidance of a doctor.

Antidepressants

The effect of this type of drug on headache patients is not only to change the patient's depressive mood, but also this type of drug has a good anti-anxiety effect. This type of drug is not addictive when used for a long time, but it has certain effects on the cardiovascular system, so it should be used under the guidance of a doctor. Commonly used ones include doxepin, amitriptyline, maprotiline, clomipramine, etc.

other

Ergotamine caffeine tablets are likely to produce better effects when taken before a headache occurs, especially for migraines, but their dosage should be strictly controlled, generally not exceeding 6 tablets per day. Nimodipine and sibelium have relatively good effects on vascular headaches such as migraine, cluster headache, and hypertensive headache.
