How to do abdominal color Doppler ultrasound

Abdominal color Doppler ultrasound is an imaging examination that is often performed on patients in hospitals. Abdominal color ultrasound has important clinical detection significance. Many diseases can be diagnosed through this examination. For example, through liver examination, it can be determined whether the person being examined has liver diseases such as fatty liver and cirrhosis. By examining the kidneys, it can be diagnosed whether the person has kidney diseases such as hydronephrosis and kidney stones. There are many things that the person being examined needs to be aware of before doing an abdominal color ultrasound.

1. Precautions before doing abdominal ultrasound

1. No food or water. The dinner on the day before the examination should be light and low-residue, and you should fast overnight after eating. On the morning of the examination, breakfast and water should be avoided to ensure that the examination is done on an empty stomach in the morning. This is mainly to reduce the interference of gastrointestinal contents on the ultrasonic beam and ensure that the gallbladder and bile duct are filled with sufficient bile.

2. Sometimes, some patients still have a lot of gas in the gastrointestinal tract even if they abstain from food. These patients should take oral anti-bloating tablets 1-2 days before the examination, which will help eliminate intestinal gas.

3. Two days before the B-ultrasound, gastrointestinal barium meal radiography and choledochus radiography should be avoided. For patients who visit the doctor for digestive system diseases, doctors will sometimes prescribe both a barium meal fluoroscopy and an ultrasound examination. It is best for patients to have an ultrasound examination first and then a barium meal fluoroscopy. If there is barium remaining in the gastrointestinal tract, it will not only affect the ultrasonic imaging of the gallbladder and pancreas, but also easily lead to misdiagnosis.

4. When doing B-ultrasound examination of the urinary system, especially B-ultrasound examination of the ureters and bladder, you should drink 400-600 ml of warm water 1-2 hours before the examination and wait until the bladder is full before the examination. If the patient needs to undergo digestive and urinary examinations at the same time, it is best not to urinate in the morning on the day of the examination, so that the bladder can be filled without drinking water.

2. What can abdominal ultrasound detect?

1. First of all, abdominal color ultrasound can be used to examine the liver. By examining the internal environment of the abdomen, it can be checked whether people have liver diseases such as fatty liver, cirrhosis, cysts, nodules, etc. This can help patients determine their physical condition so that they can undergo further examination and treatment.

2. Secondly, abdominal color ultrasound examination can be used to check the gallbladder. Through color ultrasound examination, it can be found out the size of people's gallbladder and whether the gallbladder is blocked. It can also check whether the inner wall of the gallbladder is smooth. If it is found to be not smooth, it is a symptom of cholecystitis. It can also be checked whether there are diseases such as gallstones.

3. Color ultrasound examination can also be used to examine the pancreas and kidneys. Through color ultrasound, it can be found whether people have pancreatitis and whether there are symptoms such as lumps; it can also find out the condition of the kidneys, whether there is hydronephrosis, cysts, nephritis, kidney stones and other kidney diseases.
