What are the symptoms of esophageal tumor

Esophageal tumors are divided into esophageal leiomyoma and esophageal cancer. Because the tumor is located in the esophagus, this disease will seriously affect the patient's daily diet. The early symptoms of esophageal cancer are not obvious and are easily ignored by patients, thus missing the best treatment period. Esophageal cancer is a relatively common type of digestive tract tumor, which is extremely harmful to health. Early detection and treatment can greatly improve the treatment effect. It can be seen that it is very important to understand the early symptoms of esophageal cancer.

1. Symptoms of esophageal tumors

1. Esophageal leiomyoma

Esophageal leiomyoma is a common type of benign tumor, accounting for about 90%. Most of the time, patients who develop this tumor are men. This type of tumor often appears in the middle and lower parts of the esophagus and is basically a single tumor. In addition, the symptoms of esophageal leiomyoma are relatively mild. The most common thing is that the patient will have some difficulty in swallowing food, but it will not affect the patient's normal diet. At the same time, the course of this disease is relatively long and may last for decades.

2. Esophageal cancer

For malignant esophageal tumors, it is esophageal cancer. It is difficult for patients to swallow relatively dry food. As the disease progresses, semi-fluid food cannot be swallowed. When the condition becomes more and more serious, it is difficult for patients to swallow water and saliva. Secondly, the sputum that patients spit out often contains mucus, which is secretion from saliva and esophagus. Moreover, the patient will gradually lose weight and feel weak. Finally, if the patient experiences chest pain or back pain, it indicates that the esophageal cancer is in the late stage.

2. 5 early symptoms of esophageal cancer

1. Distension or slight pain behind the sternum

This symptom does not necessarily occur continuously, but may be intermittent or worsen after exertion or when eating quickly. This is because the esophagus itself is constantly moving, and symptoms only appear when the diseased area is stimulated.

2. Foreign body sensation when swallowing food

During swallowing, food (especially dry and hard food) passing through the lesion area (the lesion is very small) may cause a foreign body sensation, and it is often fixed in one position. Some patients describe the feeling as if there is something they can never finish swallowing. Because the symptoms are mild and occur intermittently, they are easily neglected by patients.

3. Swallowing stagnation or frustration

That is, the patient seems to have a temporary stagnation and frustration at a certain part when swallowing food. This situation is not continuous and only becomes gradually obvious after the disease progresses.

4. Chest tightness or tightness, often accompanied by dryness in the throat

The patient complained of a constant stuffiness in the chest, as if there was an object blocking it, causing a tightness in the chest, which was particularly obvious when swallowing food, but did not affect normal life and work.

5. Fullness and mild pain in the pit of the stomach, under the xiphoid process or in the upper abdomen

It is more obvious when eating dry food, but it does not happen every time and is intermittent. This condition is often an early symptom of cardiac cancer. The above early symptoms generally last for more than 3 months. When they occur frequently, continuously and worsen, they are no longer in the early stage.
