What does it mean when there is a mole on the sole of the foot?

The soles of the feet are rich in sensory nerves and are more sensitive to some basic abnormal symptoms. Therefore, people pay great attention to the soles of the feet. The soles of the feet are also the part where people often have problems. For example, blisters, athlete's foot, etc. are relatively common. Some people have moles on the soles of their feet, which is very confusing. So, what is the matter with moles on the soles of the feet?

A mole is medically called a nevus cell or melanocytic nevus, which is a skin manifestation caused by an increase in melanocytes in the epidermis and dermis. If the rash is raised above the skin surface, has a dome-like or nipple-like appearance, or has a pedicle, it is clinically called an intradermal nevus; those that are slightly raised above the skin surface are mostly mixed nevus; those that are not raised above the skin surface are junctional nevus. It is recommended to perform a pathological examination first and observe under a microscope for any malignant cells. If there are no malignant cells, surgical removal can be performed. If there are signs of malignancy, large-scale cleaning surgery and other treatments should be performed.

Pigmented nevi are caused by abnormal skin metaplasia and melanin deposition, and are closely related to personal genes. Pay close attention to local changes in moles: if they grow larger, become itchy, swollen, painful, or ulcerate and bleed and cannot heal in a short period of time, they may become cancerous. Early surgical resection is recommended.

It is hard to say what causes the growth of pigmented moles. It may be due to reaching a certain age, or some other factors. Pigmented nevi are generally benign proliferations of melanocytes, and some may also have the possibility of basal cell carcinoma. Generally, if they are discovered in the early stages, there is no risk of malignant transformation. However, it is better to have nevi removed in a plastic surgery hospital early on if they are located in areas that are prone to friction and irritation, such as the soles of the feet. After the operation, the removed nevi will be sent to the pathology department for a pathological examination to rule out the possibility of malignant transformation and determine the nature of the nevus. It is recommended that pigmented nevi be discovered and removed early. Small nevi are easy to remove and leave basically no traces. Large nevi are difficult to remove and the scars left will be more obvious. If you are worried about the possibility of malignant transformation, the removed nevi should be sent to the pathology department for examination to determine their nature after surgery.
