Benefits of ankle rotation

Benefits of ankle rotation

The internal structure of the human body is very complex. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, there are many acupoints, but people may not know much about them. Traditional Chinese medicine can treat diseases and maintain health through massage, and ankle rotation is a health-maintaining method. It is simple and convenient, and can also improve physical fitness and better open up the acupuncture points inside the body.

Method of rotating the ankle: When sitting, keep your upper body straight, rotate your ankle from inside to outside 300 times, and then from outside to inside 300 times; when lying down, keep your upper body straight, bend your knees slightly to make it easier to exert force, rotate your ankle from inside to outside 300 times, and then from outside to inside 300 times; when standing, you can support your body with one foot and stand on tiptoes with the other foot, rotating clockwise and counterclockwise 300 times each.

Benefit 1: Correction of pelvis. Rotating the ankle can indirectly relax the hip joint and help correct the pelvis.

Benefit 2: Slimming and beautifying legs. Turning the ankle can also indirectly move and relax the knee joint, which is beneficial for correcting the crooked calf bones, eliminating excess fat in the calf, and achieving the effect of slimming the legs.

Benefit 3: Improve cold feet. Many people experience cold legs and feet in winter, which is often caused by poor blood circulation in the extremities of the legs and feet. Rotating your ankles more often can improve symptoms of cold feet.

Benefit 4: Clear the meridians. There are many meridians running through the ankle, such as the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, and many important acupoints are distributed there, such as the Taixi acupoint. Turning the ankle can stimulate and dredge these acupoints and meridians, and has good health-care effects. It is suitable for middle-aged and elderly people to do it frequently.

The ankle rotation exercise does not require a large space and can be performed while sitting, lying or standing. When sitting, you can lift one leg and rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise for a moment; when standing, you can support your body with one foot and stand on tiptoes with the other leg, rotating it clockwise and counterclockwise for a moment; when lying down, you can bend one leg at the knee and put the other leg on it as shown in the picture above, rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise for a moment, and then switch feet.

The ankle is the place where the three yin meridians of the foot and the three yang meridians of the foot pass through. The main acupoints distributed at the ankle include Kunlun, Shenmai, Jinmen, Qiuxu, Jiexi, Zhongfeng, Shangqiu, and Taixi. Rotating your ankles stimulates half of the twelve meridians, which is beneficial to enhancing the functions of organs in all systems throughout the body. For example, Taixi acupoint is the original acupoint of the kidney meridian and has a powerful kidney-tonifying function; Kunlun acupoint can treat headaches, back pain and high blood pressure; Shangqiu acupoint can treat gastrointestinal diseases; Zhongfeng acupoint can soothe the liver and regulate qi, and treat pain in the ribs.
