How to wash off asphalt from shoes

Asphalt is often used on some roads. So if we are not careful, when we walk on the asphalt ground that has not completely dried, the asphalt will stick to our shoes. Cleaning off asphalt can be a very troublesome task. But we can't throw away shoes just because of this. So, is there any way to clean the asphalt off shoes?

After removing the asphalt, it turns yellow. Use gasoline to wash it. If the yellow color becomes stronger, you can use water or hydrogen peroxide.

1. If it is stained with solvent-based paint (such as Yongming paint, Sanbao paint, etc.), it should be immediately scrubbed with a cloth or cotton ball dipped in gasoline, kerosene or thinner, and then washed with detergent solution. If it gets stained with water-soluble paint (such as water-soluble paint, latex paint) and household interior wall paint, it will come off immediately by washing with water.

2. If the surface is contaminated by paint or asphalt and the time is not long and the dirt has not solidified, you can use turpentine (or benzene and gasoline, etc.) to rub and wash it. For old stains (that have solidified), you can first soak them in a mixture of ether and turpentine (1:1). After the stains become soft (about 10 minutes), rub them with gasoline or benzene, and finally rinse them with clean water.

3. If asphalt gets on clothes, you can first scrape it off with a knife, soak it in carbon tetrachloride (available at pharmacies) for a while, or rub it in hot water to remove it.

4. To remove stains such as paint or asphalt, you can use 10-20% ammonia water (or add half the amount of turpentine as ammonia water) or soak in 2% borax solution, and then wash after it dissolves. Another method is to immerse it in benzene or toluene, dissolve it and then wash it.

5. If nylon fabric is stained with paint, first apply lard and rub it, then soak it in detergent and rinse it with clean water.

Asphalt is a dark brown complex mixture of hydrocarbons of different molecular weights and their non-metallic derivatives. It is a kind of high-viscosity organic liquid. It is in liquid state, has a black surface, and is soluble in carbon disulfide. Asphalt is an organic cementitious material that is waterproof, moisture-proof and anti-corrosive. Asphalt can be mainly divided into three types: coal tar asphalt, petroleum asphalt and natural asphalt: among them, coal tar asphalt is a by-product of coking. Petroleum asphalt is the residue after the distillation of crude oil. Natural asphalt is stored underground, some of which forms mineral layers or accumulates on the surface of the earth's crust. Asphalt is mainly used in industries such as coatings, plastics, rubber, and road paving.
