How to quickly reduce swelling after a burn

How to quickly reduce swelling after a burn

Scalding is a very common injury and many people have been accidentally scalded by boiling water. After a burn, redness and swelling will generally occur, accompanied by pain. If you want to eliminate the pain and relieve the redness and swelling, you need to take reasonable methods and treat it in a timely manner. Generally, if it is mild redness and swelling, you can treat it with egg white, honey, ginger juice, toothpaste, etc., but if the redness and swelling are particularly severe, you need to go to the hospital for treatment!

1. How to reduce swelling after burns

If the burn is not serious:

Applying soy sauce, honey, lard, dog oil or ginger juice on the injured area will be effective.

Use egg white, cooked honey or sesame oil, mix well and apply to the injured area, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

For mild burns, you can roast dry tea leaves over fire until they are slightly charred, grind them into powder, mix them with vegetable oil to make a paste, and apply it to the injured area to reduce swelling and relieve pain.

After a burn, apply some soap immediately to temporarily reduce swelling and relieve pain.

When a small area of burn occurs, apply some toothpaste immediately. It will not only relieve pain but also prevent blisters. Existing blisters will disappear on their own and are less likely to get infected. Small area second-degree burns can be healed in one treatment.

If the burn is serious, you can go to the hospital for treatment.

2. Treatment methods for burns

1. Depth of burns

1. First-degree burns: Take off your clothes and socks immediately, soak the undamaged wound in cold water for half an hour, and then apply sesame oil or vegetable oil to the wound.

2. Second degree burns: For large blisters, you can use a sterilized needle to puncture the edge of the blister to drain the water, apply burn ointment and bandage it with appropriate tightness.

3. Third degree burns: Cover the wound with a clean cloth and go to the hospital immediately. Do not apply gentian violet or ointment on the wound, as this will affect the observation and treatment of the disease.

(II) Emergency treatment of burns

1. Treatment principles: When you are just burned or scalded, you can cool the injured area to prevent residual heat from damaging the deep skin tissue and relieve pain.

2. Treatment methods

(1) Use white wine to rinse the wound. Ordinary white wine (20-50% alcohol, not alcohol) is enough. It can quickly absorb the residual heat from the burn.

(2) Alternatively, rinse with cold water to cool down.

3. Surgical treatment

Severe low-temperature burns with deep wounds are difficult to heal through local dressing methods. Surgical methods must be used to remove necrotic tissue. Depending on the severity of the burn, surgical treatment is required if necessary.

3. Notes

Remember: If the burn is severe, do not rinse or soak the wound with raw or cold water, otherwise it will cause skin ulcers, aggravate the injury, and greatly increase the chance of scarring. People with severe burns may go into shock or respiratory or cardiac arrest during transfer, and artificial respiration or external chest massage should be performed immediately. When the injured person is thirsty, you can give him a small amount of hot tea or light salt water. Never let him drink a large amount of boiled water in a short period of time, which may cause cerebral edema.

Once a low-temperature burn occurs, first rinse the burned area with a cool towel or cold water to cool it down, then seek medical attention immediately. Never apply soy sauce or toothpaste to the burned area, as this can easily cause infection. Because low-temperature burns can damage deep parts of the skin, the treatment time will be longer and the treatment will be more troublesome.
