I always smell the stinky green taste in my mouth

Each of us has some smell. Sometimes the smell in the mouth is too strong, which will cause bad breath. Others will stay away from you, and you dare not get close to others. You will feel very inferior and it will affect your communication. Some bad breath can be relieved by brushing your teeth, but some cannot be relieved. This may be because the inflammation is too serious and you need to go to the hospital to solve it. What should we do if we always smell a bad green smell in our mouth?

The so-called bad breath (also called "bad breath") is the unpleasant breath that comes from the mouth, which annoys others and embarrasses yourself. Don’t underestimate this minor problem of bad breath. It will make people (especially young people) afraid to interact with others at close range, thus causing inferiority complex, affecting normal interpersonal and emotional communication, and causing great distress.

Some people have severe bad breath and can smell their own bad breath; while some people only know they have bad breath through the reactions of others. How to test your breath yourself: Put your left and right palms together and make them into a closed bowl shape, covering your mouth and nose. Then exhale into your palms and then inhale through your nose. You can smell how your mouth smells.

Causes of Bad Breath

1. Oral diseases: People with oral diseases such as caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, oral mucositis, tooth decay, and periodontal disease are prone to the growth of bacteria in their mouths, especially anaerobic bacteria, which decompose to produce sulfides, emit a corrupt smell, and cause bad breath.

2. Gastrointestinal diseases, such as peptic ulcer, chronic gastritis, functional dyspepsia, etc., may be accompanied by bad breath. Recently, we have also found that people infected with Helicobacter pylori, which causes many gastric diseases, have a significantly higher incidence of bad breath than those who are not infected. After the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, the symptoms of bad breath are significantly alleviated. The reason may be that Helicobacter pylori infection directly produces sulfides, causing bad breath.

3. People who smoke, drink alcohol, drink coffee, often eat spicy foods such as onions, garlic, leeks, or are addicted to stinky foods such as stinky tofu and stinky eggs are also prone to bad breath.

4. Dieting to lose weight, or being unable to eat due to illness, or the reduced salivary gland function of the elderly, or endocrine disorders in women during menstruation, which leads to reduced saliva secretion, is conducive to the growth of anaerobic bacteria, thus causing bad breath.

5. Bad breath in teenage girls: Some girls in puberty have ovarian insufficiency and low sex hormone levels. The resistance of oral tissue decreases, making it easy to be infected by bacteria and produce bad breath.

6. Drugs that can reduce saliva secretion, such as certain sedatives, antihypertensive drugs, atropine-type drugs, diuretics, and traditional Chinese medicines with warming and tonic effects.

7. Patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, hepatic coma, and some respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, lung cysts, etc. may also cause bad breath.

8. Long-term constipation can cause harmful substances produced in the body to fail to be excreted in time and be absorbed into the blood, causing bad breath, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, irritability and other symptoms of self-poisoning. (See: Habitual constipation)

9. Dinner is too "heavy", eating too much or eating too much meat, greasy food or too much spicy seasoning, too much strong flavor and not enough light food, dinner is too close to sleep, too much food is left in the stomach when sleeping, etc. (Please refer to: Don’t Eat Too Heavy a Dinner)

10. Excessive psychological pressure and frequent mental tension cause the body's parasympathetic nerves to be in an excited state, which reflexively leads to a decrease in the secretion of the digestive glands, especially the salivary glands, causing dry mouth, which is conducive to the growth of anaerobic bacteria and produces bad breath.

11. Mental factors. The patient has no bad breath, and the doctor and other people cannot smell any bad breath, but he insists that he can smell bad breath and "discovers" that others "always avoid me", "don't interact with me", and "stay away from me when talking". If others occasionally scratch their nose or touch their face, he insists that "they smell my bad breath and are about to cover their nose, but for the sake of my face and fear of embarrassing me, they turn to actions such as 'scratching nose, touching face' to cover it up." They have neurotic and obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and are more common in hypochondriacal neurosis. These patients suffer a lot psychologically, so I hope everyone will not discriminate against them, but care about them more and give them confidence.
