Pain under the eye is most likely pain in the lower eye socket. Generally speaking, orbital pain is most likely caused by an eye disease. But if you don’t have any other discomfort symptoms, the most likely cause is visual fatigue. You can relieve the symptoms through eye massage, hot compresses on the eyes, or some eye exercises. If the effect is not ideal, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for examination. What causes eye pain? 1. Corneal and conjunctival lesions The corneal conjunctiva is known as the black part of the eye, while the bulbar conjunctiva is the surface of the white of the eye. Our cornea may be infected with bacteria, which may cause eye pain and soreness, and sometimes also be accompanied by symptoms such as red eyes and fear of light. In chronic inflammation, there may be only mild eye stinging or grinding pain, and stones may form on the conjunctiva of the eyelids. In this case, only treatment for inflammation or concurrent tarsal calculi is required. 2. Visual fatigue Generally, people in offices will suffer from visual fatigue. They work for long hours and their eyes cannot get enough relaxation, which causes sore eyes, inability to open their eyes, and the desire to cry. If the patient has refractive errors or a large difference in the sight of both eyes, or if the eye accommodation decreases due to presbyopia, wearing glasses will make the eyes uncomfortable and prone to eye pain and fatigue. In this case, you need to have an accurate eye test, wear a pair of suitable glasses (especially for close reading), and pay attention to proper rest. After rest, the soreness and fatigue of the eyes can be gradually relieved. 3. Supraorbital neuralgia It is neuralgia of unknown cause. Because the supraorbital nerve innervates the upper orbit and the surrounding skin, the eye pain is often a tingling pain in the orbit and its surrounding area, and some people may also have pain in the eyeball. What to do if your eye socket hurts 1. Gently press the eyeball When looking at the computer screen for more than 1 hour, you should close your eyes immediately, relax your eyes for 5 seconds, and then start to use the tips of your index, middle and ring fingers of both hands to gently place on your eyelids and gently press the eyeballs. After pressing 20 times, start to massage the eyeballs in a clockwise and counterclockwise motion. Stop after about 20 seconds. 2. Soothing forehead method Many times eye pain can cause frontal headaches. Therefore, use three fingers of both hands to slide from the center of the forehead toward the temples on both sides, and then use your fingertips to massage the temples vigorously. In this way, your eyes will feel relaxed and comfortable. Do this 3-5 times in a row. 3. Massage between eyebrows Close your eyes and place the tip of your thumb between your eyebrows, where there is a concave area, and press 10 times, then gently rotate it 10 times. Repeat the massage 3 times. Then open your eyes and move your eyeballs in four directions: up, down, left and right, but keep your head stable and blink continuously. How to protect your eyes Washing your eyes with salt water can prevent keratitis Washing your eyes with salt water can prevent keratitis. The cornea is located in front of the "black eyeball" and is colorless and transparent under normal circumstances. Most cases of keratitis are caused by poor eye hygiene. Another effective preventive measure is to wash your eyes frequently with a sterile cotton swab dipped in a clean 1:100 bamboo salt solution, once a day. After washing, just wipe the bamboo salt water around your eye sockets. Wash your eyes in the morning for better results. It should be noted that the prepared bamboo salt water can only be used once, and multiple people cannot use the bamboo salt water in the same container. This method has long been recorded in "Compendium of Materia Medica" and "Shennong's Classic of Pharmacy". It not only has a preventive effect on keratitis, but also on other eye diseases. How to use eye drops correctly The scientific operation method is to gently lift the lower eyelid, drop the medicine into the lower conjunctival sac, and then drop it at the corner of the eye, avoid dropping it directly into the pupil, close the eyes lightly for a few seconds, and after dropping the medicine, lightly press the inner corner of the eye to prevent the eye drops from flowing into the throat through the nasolacrimal duct and irritating the gastrointestinal tract and causing adverse reactions. |
