There are many benefits to placing more yew bonsai at home. Not only can it make the air fresher, but it can also make people feel happier. After seeing the bonsai, the troubles caused by work and life will quickly disappear. However, some people may reflect a problem after purchasing yew bonsai, that is, it seems not easy to keep it alive. In fact, people may not understand the correct cultivation method. The following introduces the cultivation method of yew bonsai. How to plant yew in pots 1. Since the yew tree is small, you must pay attention to the regulation of light. It needs light but cannot be placed in strong light for too long. Generally, it can be exposed to the sun for about two hours before 10 am or after 5 pm every day in summer and autumn. Usually receive more scattered sunlight. Otherwise, the leaves will be burned by strong light and the leaf tips will turn yellow. Keep the room ventilated to avoid wilting, drooping and other poor growth caused by dry indoor air. 2. If the new bonsai has dark yellow and dull leaves, and the top of the new shoots wilts, it is usually because of excessive watering, which has caused the soil to become compacted and airtight, causing some roots to rot and weakening the ability to absorb water and fertilizer. If the symptoms are mild, you should control the amount of watering and use a hard and blunt object to loosen the surface soil of the pot gently to make the soil breathable. Move the pot to a place where it can receive dew every night and move it to a cool place at around 8 or 9 in the morning to help the roots resume healthy growth. If the leaves turn yellow or curl within a short period of time, it means that the root rot is serious, so you should immediately turn the pot over and check the root rot (normal fibrous roots are tender, plump and white). If more than half of the roots are rotten, it is generally impossible to save the plant. 3. The old leaves turn yellow from the bottom to the top, but the new leaves generally grow normally. This is usually caused by not watering thoroughly at one time or the amount of water is too little, resulting in a lack of water at the roots. Sometimes the top leaves dry up and curl up, and the dry leaves fall off when touched, but the old leaves grow normally. This is usually caused by lack of water in the roots, and the plant should be watered thoroughly at one time. When watering, be sure to first press the cracks on the edge of the pot with an object to prevent the water from leaking out quickly from the cracks. This will create the illusion that the tree is watered thoroughly, but over time the roots will lack water and the tree will die. Move the yew tree outdoors at night to receive more rain and dew, and allow it to receive two hours of sunlight in the morning and evening to resume its growth. 4. Yew is suitable for weakly acidic soil. If it is watered with alkaline water for a long time, the leaves will turn from green to yellow, or even fall off. Add acidic nutrients or spray the leaves or water the potting soil with 2/1000 ferrous sulfate solution once every ten days for three consecutive times. It can turn leaves that have turned yellow due to alkali back to green. 5. In March and April every year, the yew tree will sprout a large number of buds, which will consume a lot of nutrients. At this time, the buds growing inward can be removed to prevent the branches from being too dense and poorly ventilated, causing the leaves to turn yellow or fall off. Thinning out crossed branches, inward branches and overgrown branches can improve ventilation and light transmission, and save excessive consumption of water and nutrients. It is best not to spray liquid fertilizer on the leaves or pour concentrated fertilizer on the roots when the buds are just sprouting. 6. The normal amount of fertilizer applied is when only urea is used as nitrogen fertilizer, the concentration is generally one thousandth. If only potassium dihydrogen phosphate is used as phosphorus fertilizer, the concentration used is one thousandth to two thousandths. The interval between each topdressing is seven to ten days. |
