Which department should I go to for Helicobacter pylori

Many examinations require fasting, some blood tests also require fasting blood draws, and many tests for stomach diseases also require recovery. Just like the breath test and gastroscopy require the patient to be on an empty stomach in the morning. The breath test can detect Helicobacter pylori, but there are still many patients who are confused. If Helicobacter pylori is detected in the body, they don’t know which department to go to? Next, I will introduce to you which department to go to for Helicobacter pylori.

It is recommended to do a gastroscopy. Finding out whether there is Helicobacter pylori does not mean that there are any changes in your stomach. It only proves that you are a carrier. It is best to do a gastroscopy to check the extent of your stomach disease. This will also allow the doctor to adjust the medication according to your stomach disease when cooperating with the sterilization, so as to better treat it.

If you want to know whether you are infected with Helicobacter pylori, you can check it through the following three methods. There is no need to panic if you are found to be infected with Helicobacter pylori. Family members can supplement with Wei Le Shu to fight against beneficial bacteria on a daily basis to relieve stomach discomfort, compete with harmful bacteria, and eliminate Helicobacter pylori.

1. Blood test:

Check for antibodies to Helicobacter pylori. This method is generally suitable for people who have never been checked for Helicobacter pylori. It is simple and easy. Because patients who have been infected and treated may still have positive antibodies for one or two years. If the antibody test is positive, it means that the patient has been infected before, but it does not necessarily mean that the patient is still infected. Therefore, if the test result is negative, it can be ruled out that the patient is infected; but if it is positive, more tests are needed to confirm whether there is infection at this stage.

2. Stool examination:

Stool tests are relatively more troublesome than blood tests, but their accuracy is higher than blood tests. If the stool shows positive, it means there is an active infection and Helicobacter pylori is present in the stomach.

3. Blowing inspection:

This detection method uses the principle that Helicobacter pylori decomposes urea and releases carbon dioxide. When a patient drinks urea containing carbon-13 or carbon-14 and then blows his breath, if carbon dioxide containing carbon-13 or carbon-14 can be detected, it also means there is an infection. This method is generally used to check for Helicobacter pylori during physical examinations. It has a very high accuracy, but it requires some preparation in advance, such as not taking antibiotics or anti-gastric acid drugs in the previous period of time, and the patient must be examined on an empty stomach.

Although the radioactivity in the carbon-14 breath test is very trace and will not cause harm to the human body, it is best not to use it on pregnant women and children.

The carbon-13 breath test does not contain any radioactivity and can be used to detect Helicobacter pylori in pregnant women and children.

4. Biopsy during gastroscopy:

While examining the gastric mucosa with a gastroscopy, the gastroenterologist can remove a very small portion of the inflamed or ulcerated tissue and observe it under a microscope, or send it for culture to see if Helicobacter pylori is present. This is an invasive examination for patients and is suitable for patients who need a gastroscopy.
