Why do teeth hurt when they can't eat cold or hot food?

In life, many people's teeth will ache no matter they eat hot or cold food. This is generally caused by oral diseases. Most of the tooth aches and pains caused by hot or cold are caused by bad living habits and eating habits. At present, the incidence of this disease is increasing day by day, which brings great trouble to our daily life. Many people are busy with work and neglect medical treatment, resulting in serious consequences.

Why do teeth hurt when they can't eat cold or hot food?

1: Tooth decay

Caries is also known as tooth decay or tooth decay. If the caries has reached the shallow layer of dentin, there will be obvious cavities on examination. There will be pain when touched and sensitivity to external stimuli. For example, eating cold food will cause soreness, and eating sweets or hot food will also cause pain. However, the pain will disappear immediately when the stimulus source is removed, and there is no spontaneous pain.

2: Pulpitis

Pulpitis can be divided into acute and chronic. In acute pulpitis, severe pain occurs suddenly without any external stimulation. The pain has a process of persistence and relief. The pain often worsens at night. Eating hot or cold foods can trigger the pain or make it worse. People are often afraid to brush their teeth with cold water. In the late stage of pulpitis, it also manifests as "hot pain and cold relief". Heat stimulation will produce severe pain, and patients often temporarily relieve the pain by gargling with cold water.

3. Periodontitis

Due to the destruction of periodontal tissue, especially when the absorption of alveolar bone is aggravated, the strength supporting the teeth is insufficient, resulting in loose teeth and displacement. At this time, patients often feel weak bite, dull pain, and worsening gum bleeding and bad breath. At the same time, when eating hot or cold foods, the teeth are irritated and the pain becomes more severe.

4: Crown enamel wear

Mechanical friction or chemical corrosion can cause the enamel on the surface of the crown to wear away. When the fragile dentin is exposed, tooth pain will be aggravated by hot or cold stimulation. Causes of enamel wear include, for example, clenching or grinding teeth; brushing with excessive force and for too long a distance; frequent use of mouthwash containing acidic substances; excessive consumption of acidic substances, etc.

Treatment:

1. When you feel pain, take a piece of ginger and bite it on the painful area. You can use it repeatedly if necessary. Apply an appropriate amount of toothpaste to the toothache area, and the pain will be relieved after a few minutes. Use a toothpick to pick up Yunnan Baiyao and apply it to the toothache area. It will relieve the pain after 3 minutes. Brew 3 grams of tea leaves with boiling water for 5 minutes, filter out the tea leaves, add 2 ml of rice vinegar, and take it 3 times a day. Acupoint treatment: Rub the nostrils up and down 36 times with the thumb joints of both hands, and then press the Yingxiang points on both sides of the nostrils 50 times with the left thumb and index finger. Cross the fingers of both hands, tap the base of each finger (Baxie acupoint) against each other 100 times, then use your thumbs to press the Hegu acupoint (commonly known as the tiger's mouth) between the thumb and index finger on the back of both hands 50 times. Use a toothbrush to gently brush the second joint of the ring finger (liver point) and the first joint of the little finger (kidney point) on the palms of both hands, and then brush the area between the base of the thumb and index finger on the back of both hands for 2-3 minutes each.
